The singer, who became a Jehovah's Witness in 2001, goes house-to-house to preach about the faith.
And fans are sometimes so stunned to find the rock legend on their doorstep that they don't want to let him go.
He tells USA Today, "Sometimes fans freak out. It might be a shock to see me, but that's no reason for people to act crazy, and it doesn't give them licence to chase me down the street."
Prince is so devoted to his faith that he even takes the Bible to business meetings - to show executives he is serious about doing a deal.
He adds: "There are all kinds of possible deals artists aren't privy to. I love to bring the Bible to the table. I start by asking if they believe in God, then: 'What kind of business do you want to conduct: Transparent or hide the ball?' I'll do tours and albums if the deal is clean."

Let me see. Most of you who posted are probably so called "christians" yet you cannot tolerate one who does what the bible says. So what do you do? You twist what the bible says to meet what your desires are of how religion should be.
The best way for you to not be hypocrites would be to end religion and the bible. How does that sound? Since yoo don't like what it says anyway.

Tell me how you can reconcile being a celebrity and one of Jehovah's Witnesses at the same time? They are encouraged ( pressured ) to live a simple life. Only working enough to pay for the necessities. They are supposed to devote much time to study, meetings ( 5 a week ), and service. Not to mention the fact that devotees are required to avoid associating with "worldly people" (ie...anyone who is not a Jehovah's Witness).
This really goes to show the extreme hypocracy in this religion.

cantucwearebrothers:
May you know that he started sudying (after) he became a celebrity, therefore he already had all his riches and material things that came along with his life style. But as he learns the principle that is taught of humilty and leading a simple life, it becomes his decision whether he will or not. They encourage on leading a simple life, they encourage people to learn, they encourage others to change their lives. They never pressure, they suggest and encourage. They are just delivering a message that God has sent them to deliver. Meeting are 5 times a week, but it's a couple of meeting in a day and three in another. And the reason they don't associate with worldly people is because worldly people may not share the same values and morals as they do and have been taught, which by the way, is another decision that they personally make, but are encouraged to avoid. So for you to say that there's hypocracy in the religion is really ignorant of you. Maybe if you knew the scriptures that support the things they do, then maybe you would appreciate it more. But if you don't, please don't sit here and judge and presume things about them, just like you wouldn't want them to come and judge and presume things about you.. Thank you.

Wow this is definitely one of those threads that makes me want to puke.
Of all the mentalities that are destructive to humanity nothing is more insidious and redundant than the pot calling the kettle black. You cannot judge, typify or typecast in terms of worth, intelligence, mental health or character by choice in faith. By doing so you encourage the same disastrous train of thought that allowed men to burn women as witches, or justified the persecution of countless “others,” or unnatural groups.
Make no mistake about it; you are an idiot if you judge a person in such a manner. You will find no scientific backing for such a blanket condemnation based upon such a flimsy, and in this case anti-intellectual train of thought.
Prince is a Jehovah Witness, as a Witness he is required by faith to spread the word of the bible. Jehovah Witness’ take this seriously, that’s why you always see them on Saturdays and Sundays running around with their bibles. Apparently Prince made the choice to honor his duty, despite the fact that he is a celebrity and somehow on a sub-conscious level above such a menial task.
Prince is not acting out of madness, he is acting out of humility. That is something they talk about in the bible. See people he shows a clear train of thought. Now stop being so idiotic and hate filled. You’re making other atheists look bad.

first off, i am not judging prince. second, you can moan and wail all you want. what i stated is fact. if you dont like the facts....i really dont get your viewpoint anyway. either youre a jw, or you really like prince. if you are an athiest, and you are concerned about the issue, maybe you should do your homework. as i said, those are facts about that religion, and if youre not just talking out your ass and you really want to debate this we can. otherwise you can respect what i post and i will do the same for you.

To be honest I wasn’t even addressing you, but sense you’ve taken the time to reply to my post then I guess I will “debate” what little there is.
“this religion is a cult, that’s a fact you can not dispute.”
Religious cult carries an ugly connotation that can be applied to any form of organized religious based on your criteria.
Voluntary donations
Belief as the only true religion
Ownership of land (in your case Brooklyn heights)
Multi -million corporation (which is a distortion. You cannot be a tax exempt religious organization and a for profit corporation at the same time.
“Hidden things” (care to give an example?)
blood transfusion (So for Catholics it’s a sin to use contraceptives yet they still do. The same applies for JW’s and the whole blood transfusion issue.)
this is a very dangerous religion and has torn apart thousands of families. ( lots of things tear families apart, like judgmental people, or prejudices.)
“you can moan and wail all you want”
Well you can be a douche all you want but it still does nothing for your argument.

ok ricky84. i have respected more than one of your comments previous. again i dont know your hang up on this issue as you have not revealed yourself.
land ownership, its a fact that they tell parishoners contributions to support "the work" comes from voluntary donations. they do not tell them that they are leasing out luxury apartments for millions of dollars a year in brooklyn.
they do preach and believe they are the only true religion. do you wish to present facts that they do not?
heres the point. a cult carries on a clandestine existance. they continuously "admonish" parishoners to avoid the internet and not listen to anyone who says anything contrary to their teachings.
i feel that you are caught up in some prideful grandstanding here and, i will not apologize, you need to stand down. you have made no factual claims-if you were not responding to me you should have left it at that-but you accepted my challenge and now you have shown yourself inadequate in fact, experience, and logic. reasoning on your part has not come to the fore.
it is a cult, a danger to society. if you wish, tomorrow, you will see at least 5 postings on this website to prove this fact. you will suffer humiliation and lose this, but we can go forward if you wish, or you can stand down. what will it be? no answer will be taken as a forfiet. you are a smart guy, ill give you that. but you are wrong about this and you are in way over your head.

Ricky84:
Prideful grandstanding,
An appeal for me to stand down from my position…
Wow Globe you should stop and think about my “position” for a moment, or at the very least how your interpretation of my position affects your ability to reason and to have an even handed discussion. The core of my beliefs revolve around a concept of individualism. Humans are not groups and mindsets are not shared or interchangeable among those, who through self identification or the observations of a third party, belong to a particular group.
That being said its pretty much impossible to argue against my “position” by claiming a particular form of organized religion is a cult. By your reasoning all forms of organized religion is a cult and therefore everyone who belongs to this “cult” is evil, or crazy or just plain bad. This type of rigid belief structure is identical to what you will find in any form of organized religion or spirituality.
“i feel that you are caught up in some prideful grandstanding here and, i will not apologize, you need to stand down. you have made no factual claims”
Of course. Unlike you I refuse to look at a collection of individuals and judge them as a group. I also refuse to waste my time trying to convince you that your wrong. I don’t have that power. If you want to look at an individual and judge them based on a label so be it.

this religion is a cult, thats a fact you can not dispute. if you would like to try then i will personally take the challenge. even though its not much of one. they tell their followers they are the only true religion and funding comes from voluntary donations, and yet they own most of ( if not all ) brooklyn heights. they are a multi million dollar corporation. and they keep these things hidden best they can. they say they value life, yet it is unchristian to take a blood transfusion to save your own. this is a very dangerous religion and has torn apart thousands of families.

let me tell you something, no certified genius can
be religious, the two are like water and oil.geniuses understand the difference between all religions.
we understand why there is religion.
we understand why people believe the lies of religion.
we understand why wars are fought over religion.none of us can actually believe one religion over the
other, we see all the lies and the little truths that each
religion has to offer. - 3 years ago
