What I think is most interesting about this is the fact that the word "CensorSHIT" has been used as a tag 15 times on this site.

America is the land of the #$%@#$$ Puritans... Hate too say it, but we just can't live without censoring something, after all, vocabulary is a dangerous thing.

Oh, please! Too rude for iTunes? There is technically NO SUCH THING!!! Furthermore, what's pretentiously too rude for iTunes is too readily available elsewhere. Kids today are techinically savvy and gifted enough to generate far more offensive drivel than the pros for whom iTunes is vending. And, they share their files for free.

So, does iTunes really have a glitch or are they just censor freaks?

You know a song will be explicit if it has a swear word in the title.

I didn't think of this, George Carlin did.
iTunes blocks out letters, like F***, or A**.
This is the crazy part. You allowed to know what the word is, but your not allowed to hear it. Someone knowing the word is good. Hearing it is bad.

It's like on TV during the day, they miss out the most inoffensive little things. In an episode of scrubs, the line "talk dirty to me" missed out the dirty!!

Why don't they just build a feature into the software that blocks any song with the "explicit" tag from viewing or downloading. A lot of parents don't allow their kids to download explicit songs, so that feature would take care of both issues while allowing the rest of us unfettered access. Kind of Like NetNanny for iTunes.

Hmm, I guess the idea is that anyone could see all the albums, and many kids use iTunes. Maybe they got lots of complaints from over-concerned parents? Sounds kinda silly though, considering the clips of the songs themselves probably aren't censored so you'll still hear the swearing. And 'lesbians' are censored?? Isn't that rather homophobic? Especially since, oddly, 'gay' (used as an insult) isn't...

I can't believe I'm gonna say this, seeing as I've been playing guitar most of my life: Guitar is overrated. Controversial...

Some of the bands mentioned here are popular for basing their material solely on their controversial song titles and lyrics rather than any musical ability. It's good to see these being substituted with asterisks - hope they get some guitar lessons.
