The day the music stopped...

The fact that I may be arrested and charged with there drug use is crazy. Please do not let this continue.
Not only does this make no sense, but it is hurting the wrong people. The drug dealers should be prosecuted not an innocent DJ and promoter.

So if we see drug use on public property are we allowed to arrest the mayor for contributing to drug use? It's ridiculous that we pay taxes to support a healthy infrastructure and they go toward harassing good people.

Reminds me of a case of a club fire caused by the unsafe use of fireworks for a gig, where, since the club manager didn't have the sufficient funds to pay for the amount the families were suing for, the local counsel, DJ, musician and insulation company that insulated the club (even though they stipulate that their insulation foam is for indoors only, where fireworks aren't usually let off) all had to cough up. The judicial system seems crazy sometimes.

Used to go to this club a while ago. Last Friday of every month was "Legends of the dark black" - there was no comparison between the harsh violence stretching down Union Street and happy, hyped up atmosphere of the academy- if this WAS because of all the drugs being consumed then it doesn't detract from the fact that it made it a better, safer environment than any other club in Plymouth.

Final resort of the approach the police are taking IF it did actually work - clubs would be crap! Illegal parties would increase. Where will they get into their thick heads - people, particularly young people - will takes drugs and dance - they can either allow clubs to accomodate this in some way or they can deal with illegal parties.

this is a bit much, it's a last resort, but it will work, it will force clubs to be a lot stricter, anybody can be a drug dealer it can't be possible to catch them all

While I've no doubt he's not entirely whiter than white as is made out in the article, as there is a certain culture that goes with that type of music. The sentence handed out is ridiculous, in no way was he responsible for selling drugs and to be sent down for it is astonishing. What planet do judges come from? Club promoter gets 5 years for being in the same room as drug dealers while you hear about peadophiles and drink drivers that kill children getting let off with a slap on the wrist and asked politely not to do it again. The law is an ASS!

People takes drugs like e in clubs to dance - it gives them energy and good feelings. Alchohol is a downer and does not work as well. This is the reality - they will never stop this. What do they want? a nation getting pissed at home. Their futile attempts to tackle drugs (well if you call e a problem drug in the first place) by ruining basically law abiding peoples nights, filling prisons and generally alienating the police from the youth do absolutely no good at all EXCEPT maybe make some brainless tit running the force that did the bust look like he's tackling drug problem.
The prisons are full enough with people who should and would not be there but for some crazy laws. We do not need to start now adding people who put parties on where poeple are taking e.

This year 3 of Ibiza's main clubs (Amnesia, Bora Bora and DC-10) were closed down in the opening month of the club season in a bid by authorities to force them to tackle drug-dealing and consumption among clubbers. How effective has this been and how important is drug taking to the Ibiza clubbing experience? Will a serious clampdown effect tourism? How difficult is it for the police to deal with the drug situation and are they understaffed to tackle it?

This is counter logic. It's like banning Tie Dye T-shirts and Lil' Wayne to combat people smoking dope.
Actually. That doesn't sound too bad really!
Great article.

The War on Drugs whether in the U.S or elsewhere does not work. I am not advocating legalization of anything. But I feel there are more victims then drug dealers getting in serious trouble. If they hired police officer to stand at the door. Then they could have paid one to be undercover inside the club and check out what was happening around the club. The sentence is too harsh.

Don't you find it ironic that McCain during the debates mentioned trade agreements with Columbia and how the US needs to keep those ties strong?
Know what the number one export out of Columbia that is known and monitored?
Cocaine.
...not coffee.
Seems the government talks out of both sides of their mouth when it comes to drugs.

This is just sad, the dealers get away and the innocent are left to pay. Where is the justice? Things are just so crooked nowadays.
