Obama Concludes His Presidential Campaign : “Fire it Up! Ready to Go!”

After the longest presidential campaign in history, Barack Obama saved a huge Virginia rally for last, speaking to 90,000 people in Manassas (VA). For his conclusion, he reached back to the very beginnings of his campaign to tell an inspirational story that had long ago fallen away from his routine.

It was about a small 60 year-old woman whom he had met during a visit to tiny Greenwood, South Carolina, in 2007, and it became a favorite during his Iowa caucus campaign. It ends with Obama leading a cheer of "Fire it Up, Ready to Go!"

Obama ended Tuesday night's Virginia rally by exhorting the large crowd: "In 21 hours, if you are willing to endure rainfall, to take the person who was not going to vote to the polls, if you will stand with me in a fight with me, I know that your voice will matter. I have one question for you, Virginia. Are you fired up? Are you ready to go? Fired up? Ready to go? Fired up! Ready to go! Virginia, let's go change the world!"

    • I'm curious. I have a close friend who attended this rally last night and said that there were incidents between police on horseback and rally attendees. Did any other attendees witness anything like this? I was told there were several arrests, one related to a police horse either falling or being knocked over after nearly trampling an elderly woman and small children. Needless to say we've seen nothing of this kind of report in local media.

    • I have a bad feeling.

      I like Obama...a lot.

I just don't think he has the makings to be a President for today. That is, strangely enough, a complement. It is a dirty job and he's not dirty enough to make it work. We can list a lot of Presidents that were good and the best was, by many people's opinions, Abraham Lincoln. the problem here is that the past was easier to be a President because of less intrusive nature of people.

The intrusive nature of the Presidency isn't for all and Obama is a good father and husband and him becoming President will ruin that...it will.

If he's really as good a man as I think he is he will run for one term (if he wins) realize it's not really for him and not run again. Whether or not he'll be a good President isn't something I can determine, but he's just not made for the job. Martin Luther King Jr. wasn't made to be President and he would have made a horrible one at that.

People have their places in the world. You can't just do anything, mainly because there are certain qualities to do certain things and sometimes you just don't have it. In this case Obama has all the makings of a great speaker, a great model but not a great President.

It would be awesome to meet him and shake his hand. I would tell that story to everyone. Just as I would if I met McCain and Palin.

I don't think he understands what it means to be President and it seems that the American Public doesn't understand either.

Why anyone would wish this upon such a great man, I have no clue.

It takes a good man to change the world, J_J.
If a good man cant do it, then noone else can. Dont expect a corporate dog, military punk to do it.

We can only hope, I guess.
And thats what the american people is doing (fucking finally)
