I just saw this post and interestingly enough am at this very moment watching a film called "Gypsy Caravan". It is a 2006 film that documents 5 bands of Romani people, touring together. Get it from netflix. It is great.

TerryA, this is very much the contemporary sound of Gypsies - this is Gypsy Swing made famous by Django Reinhart (who composed this piece along with Stéphane Grapelli). I will be posting more every now and then. Meanwhile, here is one just for you - Joscho Stephan, a Gypsy from Germany playing "Django's Tiger". :)

Joscho is a very talented Guitarist. I really enjoy his Bossa Derago. I have a friend named Marcus Dunnleve. His music is very reminiscent of Joscho's. He has given me a CD of his music, and if it's alright with him, I'll post some, I know you'll enjoy it.
