Hey everyone, As of today chi is holding strong. He we be so happy to know the good things you are doing out of respect for him in his downtime. For day three, Please, if your gonna party find a designated driver beforehand and of coarse stay buckled. Chi's mother (Jeanne) asked if I would post these words from her as well. -Chino. "When asking Chi's head neuro surgeon what kind of thank you gift we could get for he and his team of doctors he responded that some of the surgeons love the Deftones and he would like them to have tickets for when chi's back onstage. He expects a tough recovery but in the end expects Chi will be playing his bass again. Praise Jah. For himself the doc has a special request for all of you. He will give you more details soon. It is 1:00 am now and I am with Chi. I've been reading your emails to him. You are so wonderful. My heart aches with love for you. We are all connected." - Jeanne (chis mom).

    • Wow, they're my favorite band. I saw them in 2003, and Chi was of course amazing. I really hope he's okay and that he recovers well. Chi, you're in my thoughts.

    • This is horrible I truely hope he recovers full and well... Chino is an amazing vocalist with a tried and true understanding of dynamic tonal value which i, a musician myself, embrace as a unique and progressive artistic contribution to commercial music as a whole. deftones' newest album is and was refreshing, and i sincerely hope he is willing and able to reinvent thier genre in 2009 like they have since they first came out...

    • This is one vegetarian that's cannot die~! Deftones are sick.

And I agree with the above, this isn't news. Current is not "People".

XVX for life, R.A.S.H. 'til death.

Current describes it's audience as young & educated. Most Deftones fans I know are both.

I can easily see how this is an appropriate & newsworthy story for this network.
"Current TV, which launched August 1, 2005, is the first national network created by, for and with an 18-34 year-old audience. "

I must agree with my learned colleague here. Current was invented for a demographic, that demographic wants to know things pertaining to that demographic.

      This is news.

    • Deftones played a major role in my teenage years so I'm quite sad to hear of this. As others have said, I hope Chi makes a full recovery and I send deep regards to all of his loved ones.

my point is that it shouldn't be number one.
have you noticed that there are stories with higher green light percentages and more comments that are ranked lower then this story? this story has a 57% so explain to me why it should be number one.

Apparently a lot of people think it does deserve to be #1 and that it does qualify as news.

It's certainly more newsworthy than the stories about the presidential candidates voting, etc...

Don't like it... vote it down and don't read it.

      cp9k,
If you ever listened to the Deftones you'd already know the answer!
The story already got on TV & from what I understand that's the purpose of voting up or down stories. Perhaps you'd be better off flipping the channel when it does seeing how butthurt you got about this story being posted in the first place.

I'm sure a front page editor @ Current can explain more if your wondering about the process etc.

    • I still have medical bills from seeing Deftones in concert, broken nose = no fun.
It was still fucking worth it though lol.
The ironic thing is that a car accident is what helped form the band, so I'm taking it to mean that bigger & better things are in store for my Sacramento boys.

My prayers go out for him & his family.
