Heavy Metal Missionaries

simmorris
25 year old Michael is the lead singer of Bloodwork, a black metal band. Usually black metal lyrics are anti-God, but Bloodwork have reclaimed the genre for the Christian faith. Before he became a Christian, Michael was heavily involved in the Occult, with literal scars to show for it. We follow him as he performs a gig with the band and as he re-visits some of the sites where he used to practice occult rituals.

    • I am glad I researched the band before I purchased any of their music. I do not and will not support xtian metal no matter how good the music may be. I find it to be dishonest when they do not present themselves as they really are, so bands like AS I LAY DYING and UNEARTHED are very deceptive and infiltrate the real metal scene with their religious nonsense.

BLOODWORK is NOT a black metal band, and should never be categorized in that vein of music.

If you think Current Tv and Current.com are ruled by atheist, there is always EWTN and Godtv. Not ever single channel needs to submit to religious ideology to pacify people who follow bronze age desert dogma. We hear plenty from the believer side of things, and the ones truly not given their chance to speak and be heard is the nonreligious side.

Grown ups should not have invisible friends.

    • my band does the same thing. the style of music doesnt affect how deep the lyrics are. i write the songs for my band (christian rebirthing metal) and the lyrics are much deeper than the secular crap thats out there. lyrics reflect places you've been in your life and the things you've been through.

    • Nice Pod! I would so much love an interview done with Skillet or Switchfoot! Also Kutless. They aren't Black metal, but are some great bands to listen to.

Thanks for trying to add balance. Current.com is ruled by atheists and any mention of God brings on pages with comments upon comments of pure hate.

There are some of us that truly would love seeing the other side of the coin.

      Thanks! And Merry Christmas!

    • Eh... good for them for professing their faith in their music without jamming it down other people's throats, I just didn't dig the music.... Melodic Death Metal is much better, and deeper too.

      As I Lay Dying
      The Devil Wears Prada

im not Christian...but i love Underoath and the Devil Wears Prada!!!!!!!

i think they do this because of stereotypes. maybe its also the typical Christian cds. have you seen those awful infomercials?

im glad kids with that kind of faith have something other than those horrible Worship cd's!!!!

Technically those bands you listed are post-hardcore, not exactly Metal. Sorry, I'm just too much of a metal enthusiast, I had to correct it.

The only real Christian Death Metal band I can think of is Kalmah, they're not REALLY Christian, but they have Christian themed lyrics....... and I also think they're Communists.

yeah if you go to wikipedia, they have a list of em. they say it dates all the way back to the 80's or something.

    • Nothing that novel here. Lots of Christian death and thrash metal bands. Music is more important in metal. This guy sounds just like he swapped one dumb thing for another.
