X Factor winner Alexandra sets European record

Despite the single only being available since Monday, X Factor's Alexandra Burke's cover of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah is the fastest-selling download ever across Europe, beating previous winner Leona Lewis's record.

In one day, Burke's version of the song reportedly shifted a whopping 105,000 downloads in the UK alone, compared to the 82,000 Leona received with her hit A Moment Like This.

Interestingly, none of this changes the fact that her version is rubbish. To see Jeff Buckley play the song, click here:

    • Ah, Leonard Cohen would be so proud. I listened to the first five seconds of her version but couldn't bring myself to listen to all of it, she warbles too much.

    • I know it's her dream and stuff but I just can't warm to her at all. I reckon the one to watch for the future is that scruffy scottish kid on the Orange Unsigned program.
