Pardon the pun but these guys have balls to be openly gay in a very homophobic music scene.

You know, who cares? If you rap, sing, fly, fuck, fight whatever..can't you do it without having to put "Gay" before the tag?, If it's good it's good, this "rap" isn't good. Don't try to give it more credence because it's Gay. Nice production and everything on the film itself, don't get me wrong. Gay rights? sure. "Gay hip hop"? Nah.

i agree, i didn't find the songs very good, but i do respect what he is doing, standing up. i liked what he said about becoming an icon that gay artists dont have, i respect you doing what you believe in. if you think you're good and like what you do, power to you.

I think its pretty cool, but I think that in order to make money you have to tone down the gay sex references.
There are probably more males who purchase rap than gays, and I cannot see any straight man bobbing their head to "I suck cock like a lollypop" or whatever some of those lyrics were.
I am a straight male who likes all kinds of music and respects the gay community but you have to play to the consumers.
I can say that this is a sort of niche being a gay rapper. I bet the first one to "sell out" will get the record deal. And by "sell out" I mean rap about something else besides homosexual sex and maybe light reference to homosexuality and the struggles of being a gay banger.
Just a thought.

It's just another case of people doing their own thing. You may not have have to like it, but you MUST respect it. Just how people have to respect the things people are doing in mainstream "Hip-Hop," no matter how real or unreal things are looking in the industries nowadays. Respect their people on their grind!

i think it's essential that gay artists go into other genres of music such as alternative, rock and such. people focus on the fact that hip hop music and artists are blatantly homophobic, but what about the other artists in the other genres?

Wow! Great video. It's the first time I hear about gay hip hop artists at all! Haha, for some reason, the idea never really crossed my mind before. But I really enjoyed this piece, very informative, and very real. Besides, I loved to hear some of them say that, even if some people don't fully appreciate what they're doing because of their sexual orientation, their talent and ability to stay true to themselves are still respected. That's the important part, I think.

This is one of the most interesting things I've seen in a long time. I've been emailing people links to this like crazy since I first saw it yesterday.
For a stereotypically homophobic culture like hip hop, it's great to see a movement emerging that contradicts that.

This is an amazing display of courage and musical revolution. There have been so many gblt artists in history but to have the courage to open this mainly straight genre to a queer audience deserves so much respect. I applaud these guys and the short was well made.

song rated R: vid content PG(click on link:abov vid or www.youtube.com/jellyview)
One of our divisions is music promotion. vc view accurate. There havent been many hiphop/rap with gay themes.1st one we came acros this year abov song. Done by anon & we did response vid to with imagery for song on Utube to portray that anyone of any background can dance to a gud beat/lyrics regardles of content. A straight couple who lov to dance or any clubgoer can dance to somethin with gay theme if its done well. Gay dance clubs R popular among straight/gay/other people becaus r known to play good dance music.Dont know if rapper hav to be gay or not for theme to come acros but any subject with gud lyrics & beat can excel if theres a lack in the market of that category.wrote blurb bout it on jellyview.Quote JV(sept 22, 2008):
always on lookout for new songs in all categories, interesting & different in music field. Once in a while we come acros creations that make impact on our ears & music sensors. browsing some videos questioning a serious situation. found interesting diss video response. song we found, unknown title, at 1st made us take step back, then more i heard it, the more it sounded like some kind of love song (might not have been the intention) but with hot alternative imagery lyrics. They had done a vid with song using another vid, can only asume they added sound to an existing vid)wanted to do a fun response vid to it. Change a couple of words here & there & U can say "look out Barry White" as this can be listened to by anyone at all. wanted to highlight song that was uploaded on utube by channel svb:A music promoter who we only contacted on utube. now song not there.we had promised to feature song with diferent imagery, he didnt believe we really liked song & its good. it is that good. The song was not credited-seem to be from unknown performer/writer: music is awesome. lyrical content is explicit & on an alternative sexual situation. that does not keep this song from being a good one in its field. has the beat, rhythm, cool lyrics & itshighly dancable. Heard quite diferent stories about song origin. One story we heard: it was commisioned by a high end gay night club in London or Austrailia to attract a young dance crowd who were into hiphop & since there werent many gay hiphop songs they esp requested one that had gay theme(paid ) but when song was played it seems the content was too explicit for club patrons conservative taste.(hmm?) (told to keep payment but to take song & um is that discrim against their own themes?) Well then, DeeJs of ho ho gay clubs & other slutty straight clubs that are into hot hot explicity sexy hip hop: be sure to grab this for the playlist. Many gay clubs who pride themselves in playing good dance music for clubgoers r waiting to snap it up bcaus musical hiphop rap stuf with gay themes r limited or non existence.
Our reviewer T girl says:There has always been the raunchy lyrics of rap hip hop. When I was in 4th grade, I remember one of my guy friends, brought his older brother's 2 live crew tape(lms)to school. At lunch time, a bunch of us took turns listening to it on his walkman by the handball wall. And we thought it was cool to listen to something not allowed but today the dirty stuff is much smoother. Acts like that paved the way for more freedom with explicit content. So this unknown piece is actually good. FourStar worthy in all hip rap musical elements: So with advice of lj & help of one of our content creators, made a sort of fan vid edite by BV cwwl Co. using two people dancing to the song as well as use some of our stock images and clips. we put this as a vid response to other version caus we liked sound of the song and wanted to highlight strengths. It was acknowledged with M&GH jellicious award for -Best Song On Any Kinda Fuckin Wehav Ever Heard- 2008, -1st Hot Rap/Hip Hop Song with Gay Themes- 2008. congrats. note sasha biachchi makes apearance on vid-her 2nd gig.

Did not know that this scene was going on. I'm happy to find out that they're being open about it and using Hip-Hop to express it. I'd probably rather listen to them than the lame mainstream shit that's been playing on the radio for the last seven years.

No matter how tolerant you may want to be to this, aren't these guys just as over-sexual with the lyrics as the so-called misogynists?
I probably won't bother with it because I can't relate. They say it shouldn't matter who you sleeping with, but then they go out there and rap about sleepin' with dudes. So be it, but I'm cool.

HaloedGriot:
The thing about this "movement" isn't about the lyrics. There are plenty of homo hip hop artists that don't rap about sex. It's about what hip hop first started as. You should go pick up a copy of M.K. Asante Jr's book "it's bigger than hip hop", and maybe it'll al make sense to you. Not that it has to make sense. But just know that you can't make judgements like that based off of hearing one or two or even three sexual songs. And FYI 99% or hip hop is owned and produced by WHITE men. exactly what it is NOT supposed to be about.
