A pill that can protect our delicate inner ear hair from damage when exposed to loud noises almost sounds too bizarre to be true, but scientists have found that by manipulating a protein in the sensory hair cells, thay can can effectively 'turn down' your ears, thus preventing as much damage and conditions such as tinnitus. The researchers have found success in trials on mice, and are now working on a patch for humans.
