Independent to give away free Sigur Ros album

The Independent has teamed up with music mag Q to give away 'We Play Endlessly', a free Sigur Ros album, this weekend on Saturday 31st January.

According to the paper's website, the CD features "nine tracks taken from three of their critically acclaimed albums, including the hugely popular Hoppípolla and Sæglópur."

    • I wonder how successful campaigns like this have run before? I've found some of my favorite music from the CDs that come with Paste magazine.

    • Everyone should listen to Sigur Ros... But i don't want everyone to. Maybe not the best idea the independent has ever had.
      Went to see them in november at Ally Pally... Got the set-list, it was an amazing show, they had water that fell between the stage and the crowd during Sæglópur.
      Immense show, was filmed for the dvd i think...
      Best song was popplagid (untitled 8)

      I was at that show too and I agree - it was absolutely fantastic. The crowd were a bit muted but it's my favourite Sigur Ros gig out of all the ones I've been to. I didn't know they were possibly filming it for a DVD. Do you have any more info on that?

    • They'll do well to give that dross away. I could well imagine stacks of free CD's being returned by newsagents who's customers have chosen not to accept the gift.

      i found and kept coming to current because this was on tv. it's not quite as awesome as their dvd 'heima' but i've come back to watch it multiple times.

      they also have a new dvd coming out soon that they filmed in london... supposedly...
