Folie A Deux is the latest work of art from pop punk kings Fall Out Boy. Famous for their catchy lyrics and equally likeable tunes they live up to the tradition on this album.
Having pushed the release date back by a month not to interfere with presidential elections, Foile A Deux is a loud, outspoken record but differs from the Chicago quartet’s previous releases. This time the songs are not about the highs and lows of bassist Peter Wentz but are written about fictional characters as well as other members of the band.
The album flaunts Patrick Stump’s vocals especially on tracks such as 'What A Catch, Donnie’ and 'Headfirst Slide Into Coopestown On A Bad Bet’. 'I Don’t Care’ is guaranteed to be a hit at live shows with the chorus being perfect for sing-along’s. The guitar riffs are attractive and will leave FOB fanatics gagging for more.
That’s just it though, Folie A Deux is going to be popular with die hard fans, fans who will love them regardless. But Fall Out Boy fail to bring something new to the table this time, unlike previous albums where it is easy to see the band have matured and progressed, Folie A Deux lacks originality. The only thing that has grown are the band’s contacts with artists such as Debbie Harry and Elvis Costello appearing on the album.
Folie A Deux will either tickle your fancy or make you run a mile. Marmite anyone?
