Pete Doherty to give university lecture

Image

Serial caner Pete Doherty is turning his hand to a new trade, and it's probably not what you'd expect... it's teaching!

Doherty will join a list of literary greats who have been invited to be a guest speaker of The University Philosophical Society at Trinity College, Dublin. Amongst those that have already spoken at the uni are Oscar Wilde, John 'Maverick' McCain, Bram 'Dracula' Stoker and Queeny actress Helen Mirren.

Apparently, he'll be talking about "life, love and much more."

Here's hoping he doesn't delve into any of his extra-curricular activities...

    • I think that this is a great thing. People forget that sometimes the people that seem to be the biggest screw-ups can have the most brilliant things to say. Im not saying that what he will say will be brilliant, but that can be judged after he gives his speech. I'm really interested to see how it turns out and what he says though.

    • What a load of shite. He's a dick, and the students who attend will only be interested in saying they were there. What happened to talks given by successful minds?

    • In other Doherty news, he will be performing with Italian pop icon Patty Pravo at this year's Sanremo festival (a sort of Eurovision, where 20 Italian artists share the stage with as many foreign guests).

Perhaps he'll sing in Italian and then give a lecture on foreign languages.

    • I think there's a lot to learn from people like Pete. And his life can be looked at from a number of different disciplines... Media, Medicine, Business, Music...
