The advert, which is called "House Of Cards", ironically doesn't feature the Radiohead track of the same name. Instead, the band's "Videotape", from their 2007 album "In Rainbows", provides the soundtrack.
Speaking of their involvement in the advert, Radiohead said they were pleased their music may help to encourage people to donate to the charity.
"We have always been big supporters of Shelter and believe that now more than ever Shelter urgently needs help and support to keep up its vital work," the band said in a statement.
"'Videotape' is the perfect track to support the ad so we decided to let Shelter use it in their new ad in the hope that it will help make a real impact."
Shelter's "House Of Cards" Radiohead-featuring advert is available to watch online now.

i cant say i've ever listened to a radiohead song, but i think anyone that does something to better the life of another human being is to be commended and should set a trend for the rest of us.

am i missing something? from the sound of this article Radiohead is just letting them use their song in their commercial for free and they think that is going to convince people to give money to this cause.
if they really wanted to do some good they should make a new song available for download and then donate all the money from the downloads to the cause.

Great cause. There wasn't emphasis on the band and more on the commercial, which puts the focus of the add where it should be.
I reckoner we can see a lot more from Radiohead in days to come. - 3 years ago

what makes you naysayers think that radiohead haven't, individually, donated any money? i believe they've given internet simulcast concerts away in exchange for donations to nonprofits.
they've also given away their latest album, whomever derides them for being greedy. go suck thom yorke's lazy eye. he's done more good for humanity than you could ever dream to.
*the man is also vegan, which makes me swoon.

No, I'm sure that they don't know how much is a ticket to their show, and what many fans pay up for it. They just collect their share. Again, what I'm pointing is that besides all the talking they do, they actually don't give a f...

ummm how bout they donate some MONEY. a track isnt quite gna feed the homeless.....
and iont think radiohead actually decides their ticket prices thats prly up to the venue / promoters. they just decide how much they get paid to perform.

Yeah, they're so cool, that's why they charge 80 dollars a field ticket to their show in Argentina, where the average income is 700 bucks.
BTW: This is the most expensive Radiohead ticket in South America. Oh, and The Rolling Stones' show was about USD 40, same as U2.Radiohead, they're such nice guys...

I think that advert's fantastic - it's a very simple concept and it's worked really well. The track suits it. The beats add to the feeling of being on a train shooting through the city and watching people's houses tumble as they lose them.

Its great to here lets go out and support the musicians by buying tracks that are dedicated this way. Then we're all helping.
Adding radiohead to the many others that do this sort of thing .. U2, Willie Nelson, Harry Belefonte to name a few

Well you sound like a peach..How much money have you donated to Shelter this year then exactly? A bit ridiculous to be so dismissive.. There is a tangible power added to the aforementioned advert by the addition of that piece of music. I for one can't think of a more appropriate way to utilize a song with such thematic threads. You'd prefer a Gap advert? Dancing models in odd crew necked T's?

when was the last time you donated to charity... plus look at global angels. natasha bedingfield and sean kingston sang and performed concerts to raise money for the charity which is owned by Natashas mom.

More band's & entertainers should do this... More radio stations should play and promote new artists also. Instead of the pay for play going on with the Large Corporations in music & acting scene.
WE NEED "NEW BLOOD"
Great Idea & Posting.
