MGMT want '70s influence on second LP

Crazy Brooklyn band, MGMT have let slip that their early recording sessions for their much-anticipated second album have produced "crazy" results.

And the pair have said that they're looking to some of the most successful artists of the 1970s for inspiration:

"Seventies, George Harrison, Space Art and France and synthesisers - it's really crazy... So far we keep writing songs that sound like aging rock stars who made albums in the '80s." (Ben Goldwasser)

I'm pretty sure that whatever they decide to take influence from, the results will be pretty spectacular...

    • EVERY song by MGMT is fantastic! They're the best thing that's happened to the music scene since The Beatles! High praise, I know. Put it this way, I basically only listen to Black Metal and MGMT have pulled me out of my dank, dark cave and into the sunshine! Can't wait til their next album.....

    • I am willing to step out and wonder if MGMT will be allowed to be the Pink Floyd of our generation. It will depend on if all this experimenting will still produce great songs, and they are left to produce at their own pace. Who influences them? I don't care. Give it a couple good songs on the next album and I will be impressed.
