The footage dates from 1969, when a camera crew followed Hendrix for a month, catching him both on and off stage. The Hendrix estate will release the footage in a DVD later this year, as part of a new deal with Universal Music Publishing Group.
Universal is taking over from Sony/ATV Music Publishing, who have represented Hendrix outside of the USA since 1998. Experience Hendrix, a company run by the late guitarist's sister, Janie Hendrix, continues to represent his music within the US.
Experience Hendrix have "10 more years of Hendrix music" in their archives, according to Janie. "Currently I am in the studio transferring tapes of Band of Gypsys performances that have never been released before," she said, referring to Hendrix's final band. The company plans to release at least two albums this year, and a Jimi Hendrix Experience concert DVD of the band's Royal Albert Hall gig in February 1969.

I know someone who's mum had sex with Jimi Hendrix. Although, he probably slept with more women in his 27 years than most men do in 87 years. This guy kind of liked to infer that maybe, just maybe, Jimi H might be his dad... despite the timings making it extremely unlikely.

My favorite Hendrix performance is from the 1973 film named after him. An acoustic 12-String version of "Hear My Train A' Comin'", followed by the classic question, "Didn't you think I could do that?", with a Jimi snicker.

I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing this.
I've watched the videos of him playing at Woodstock more than any video on Youtube. (ok, not as much as ninja cat, but it's close!)
The video above is Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze at Woodstock 1969

Absolutely... I would have loved to hear him with Miles Davis or to blow on those charts Gil Evans was working on... or imagine a band with a Jaco Pastorius on bass & Vinnie Colaiuta on drums with.. oh let's say Zawinul or George Duke on keys & a monster horn & string section...ah, one day way beyond wonder who knows ;)
Any guitarist bows down for Hendrix & Beck...Check that whole Jeff Beck show for more guitar pyrotechnics, some of that stuff is jaw dropping & the small club venue makes see how he does it... pure magic.

Way Cool ;)
Jimi immediately redefined guitar playing with his uncanny mix of funk, rock & his own Cheroke/black experience... The fact that he only produced 3 albums speaks volume of the avalanche of material that came out after his tragic death.
Check them out in top priority...
1) ‘Are You Experience’,
2) ‘Bold As Love’
3) ‘Electric Ladyland’'Killing Floor' fuels the amazing shitlin circuit classic with his own psychedelic flair... This performance was his first in the USA after he became a living legend in England.
Still a personal favorite of mine ;)
