Current Music executive producer Mark Rinehart gets up in Mos Def's face on our recent trip to Japan. Just a small taste of what's to come as we make a new half-hour prime time show!

once again Mos Def shows that rappers are far more intelligent then the over paid commerical artist getting played on the radio.
he also makes the good point that Obama is smart enough to know what battles to pick when...he knows that legalizing marijuana is a 2nd term task if one at all.

Big pharma and the prison industry ( among others ) must be exerting a lot of influence on Obama , after all The People gave him the job - and now he turns his back ? I agree , this reeks . We need to take our country back .

I wouldn't have expected Obama to make such a radical political move in his first term. I don't agree with his views, but i don't think anyone in the executive position will make the move to legalize cannabis until it becomes not so taboo. (Which it seemed it was to Obama and the people.) I did like the video it was good and its bringing the real facts that the average Americans need to realize.

good point. so the goal for the next 4 years, among the many others that demand our attention, should be to un-demonize weed so that come next term it can be a reality rather than just something we should have done.

If the legalization movement is reflective of the overall level of political sophistication (ie. bitch-ass-iness) I see reflected in a lot of these posts than the legalization issue is fucked. I just thank god people were of a different mind during the new deal, woman's suffrage and civil rights movements. Politicians are not your buddy's. They are tools to be pushed in one direction or the other in the interest of the people. Stop bitching and get behind Senator Webb's crime bill which will be exploring legalization. When the bill passes as it will apply enough pressure to force Obama to sign it or get enough support in the Senate to get a veto proof majority. THERE HAS NEVER been a better climate for the legalization of marijuana.

Point taken. I just don't want people to throw their hands up in disgust and defeat based upon one statement in a town hall meeting.

You are so correct on this issue PirateSauce I will defend your right to grow or smoke pot. Hear this law enforcement your supposedly right to arrest citizens for use or possession of pot is at odds with citizens of this country, no phony baloney law against a natural herb will stand with me or my army of citizens that will take you to the battle field. You will lose in the court of public opinion and if you don't want this matter to go to blood shed then relinquish your stand before it's too late.

When I saw Obama and the way he took the question, the only thing I can’t think is “what a dick!” I used to like the way Obama worked, but things like these make me question about his will to “change”.

To those that don't understand why WEED is such an important issue:
America has spoken. We the people want this plant legal. The very fact that we are still having this debate is because we no longer control our country. It is controlled by the corporations and bankers that control the government. THAT is what is wrong and THAT is what this really boils down to being about.

obama answered the question at hand. will it help the economy? not enough to make a significant dent. and for this specific question, i fully agree with him.
however, IT SHOULD NOT BE ILLEGAL.
the real annoying aspect of the marijuana debate is that it is so GD obfuscated. the war on drugs continues to fail, and people who need it as 'medicine' are being denied it's relief.
let's remove an unnecessary obstacle, let the heads generate some taxes, and get on tackling more important issues.

Cannabis can be used in so many different ways - one can make fuel, plastic, paper, textiles, building materials, etc., with it. Cannabis seeds are the richest vegetable source of protein and Omega 3. Cannabis leaves make excellent fodder for cattle, sheep, goats, etc. Cannabis oil will cure almost every disease known to man. Therefore, its legalization could make a huge impact on the economy and even fully revive it.

I saw this, Mos Def had good points, but he mos definitely was talking over the other people which seemed rude and probably made it so a lot of people quit listening to him. Even Bill had to tell him to shut up.
He had good points though... but it looked bad cause he was basically hijacking the show, especially in overtime.

Thanks for posting the overtime clip. The text comments on it are actually bashing Mos Def though. Also, the overtime clip never gets to the Cannabis issue cause Mos Def and that Hitch bitch were too busy arguing about stuff.
The actual show was better, but Def needs to try not to come off so rude talking over people. He did make some good points though and you can tell the audience agreed with most of it.
Mos Def did kinda hijack the show... I'm pretty sure even Bill wasn't happy about it.

I think Mos Def had some really good points. He probabley needed to clarify his point on Bin Laden a little better.....lets face it.....alot of us don't believe in this guy Bin Laden.....we see videos of him but not to sure if they are actual videos of him. Hutchins was kinda saying that Mos hasn't been paying attention to the media but what can we believe......I agree that his tone turned him into the bad guy but at the end of the day I feel like he was accurate in his statements about Bin Laden.
