The ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL (UMF)–the world’s leading two-day electronic music experience–South Florida’s favorite music festival, internationally renowned for its memorable live performances and DJ sets from the world’s top electronic and alternative rock artists.
When you can feel the music penetrating every ounce of your body, and it leaves a tingle in your chest, that is pure ecstasy. And that, my friends, is exactly what has been going down for the past eleven years, at Ultra (http://www.ultramusicfestival.com/).
The dates were set (March 27-28, 2009) for the 11th consecutive Ultra Music Festival (UMF), during the 24th annual Winter Music Conference at the beautiful waterfront location of Bicentennial Park in downtown Miami. More than 70,000 international music enthusiasts were expected in attendance for this historic event.
Ultra remains all about dance music, but as the festival has expanded, so has its definition of the genre. As always, some of the biggest names on the bill are the best club spinners in the world. But this year's edition showcased a number of acts that cross genres and play live.
For many, if not most, it provides a chance to celebrate excessively. The vibe is “techno Mardi Gras”, with lots of such classic infantilized, psychedelic rave accessories as glowsticks, multicolored hair extensions, pacifiers, fuzzy leg warmers, vinyl micro-skirts and gas masks.
Ultra Music Festival brings out raucous revelers as well as electronica’s elite as DJs share the limelight.
