Vanessa Carlton vs Shlomo - Heroes and Thieves

Mike_Johnston
Wow, where to start with this one? Shlomo is a vocal artist, a beatboxer. He makes music with his body in ways that most people can't even imagine doing. He is very good at what he does and is an "artist in residence" at the Southbank Centre in London.

When you think of beatboxing Bobby McFerrin probably comes to mind with his song, "Don't Worry Be Happy" as that was the song that made the art form famous. Shlomo is on his own level though with beatboxing.

In the video above he is on a boat somewhere in the Arctic with Vanessa Carleton (no real explanation as to how that happened) in an informal jam session doing a song called Heroes and Thieves which is one from her most recent album. In the video he IS all the instruments except the piano (kinda obvious I guess). I mean what do you call somebody like him? A human synthesizer maybe? Yeah, that seems pretty accurate.

In addition to Vanessa he has performed with artists like Bjork (she keeps coming up in today's stories), Martha Wainwright, Jarvis Cocker and many others (oh yeah he is a jazz drummer as well).

If you get into this as much as I am you will probably want to check out more of his music and you can do that on his website here: http://shlo.co.uk/video
and here: http://shlo.co.uk/tracks
or even listen to his podcast here: http://shlo.co.uk/podcast
or follow him on twitter @shlomo

I don't care who you are, you have to be amazed by Shlomo and what he does....
