Green Day has the most popular CD in the country, but you won't be able to find it at your local Wal-Mart.

The band says the giant superstore chain refused to stock its latest CD, "21st Century Breakdown," because Wal-Mart wanted the album edited for language and content, and they refused.

"Wal-Mart's become the biggest retail outlet in the country, but they won't carry our record because they wanted us to censor it," frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said in a recent interview

    • Of course Green Day could have summed up their argument with one of their best songs...

"Don't wanna be an American Idiot..."

    • This is so wonderful. I hope more bands refuse to conform to Walmart standards. And I still can't believe people buy edited music from Walmart. Boycott anything that interfers with any form of expression.

    • Wow, I'd be impressed if they abandoned Walmart for the right set of principles. Such as the fact that Walmart are demonstrably evil.

How about only distributing your new album through independent record stores?

    • Such a issue to talk about.

First off, if you want to BUY an physical copy of an album in my area (this one if any) you have to pay $15-$20 b/c Wal-Mart will not carry it and F.Y.E (the closest place that will sell the CD) is the only place to carry it (maybe Best Buy, but still a ten minute drive.)

Next, WM should release both censored and uncensored. Their "no 'PA sticker' policy" is outdated since we can walk over and grab SAW III and GTA IV from the same area.

Now Green Day. I like them, but they are not standing up to Wal-Mart. If they want to stand against them, then take back all of their albums they have right now.

If they want to make a statement, then they need to go on Good Morning America and do something outragous like start saying things like "fuck censoredship" every other word on live tv.

Thats all what I got to say.
