Elbow were last night celebrating a double win at the Ivor Novello awards, including the main award for best song.

The indie group, who claimed last year's Mercury Prize, triumphed with One Day Like This while Grounds For Divorce won best contemporary song.
Other acts to pick up awards were the Ting Tings and Duffy. Who picked up Ivor Novello awards, which honour excellence in music writing.

Winners of special achievement awards included electro pioneer Vince Clarke and Motown legend Smokey Robinson. Dance veterans Massive Attack and Scottish singer-songwriter Edwyn Collins also won special awards.

Elbow's first award for best contemporary song beat songs by artists such as Dizzee Rascal with Calvin Harris, and The Ting Tings - lead singer Guy Garvey said: "It's a great honour against fierce opposition with some great songs."
