While most music and instrument shops suffer through these tough economic times, those that sell the Ukulele are noticing startling trends for the tiny guitar.
Ukulele's are becoming extremely popular across the country, with trends growing steadily since 2007.
Mike Upton, president of Kala Ukulele in California says he is selling the instrument faster than he can make them, sales are up 76% from 2007 to 2008 and he expects the trend to continue into this year.
So, why the Ukulele? The word means jumping flea in Hawaiian. I'm not sure how to make that connection, maybe someone else is more creative than I?

Having a small guitar to strum induces a state of bliss and a sense that one controls (and even soothes) the universe. It is scientifically proven.
