I don't know about anyone else but i really find it amazing that when the man dies. thats when he get this great out poring of love and respect. To be really honest about it all M.J was the best is every thing that he did. With remarkable stage shows and albums he set the musical bar to an unreachable hight. But i think the man should have gotten a lot more respect when he was alive!!!!!

He was the king of pop.
He had it all - talent, wealth and fame.On the news this morning someone said, "His greatness was perfection."
I want to take a moment to acknowledge Michael Jackson. He was an amazing singer, dancer and performer. He had it all - talent, wealth and fame.
Yet, he still struggled.
One of my favorite songs by him is, "Man in the Mirror."
The lyrics say, "If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change."
Happiness, prosperity and success is not found in what you have. It's in You.
As a tribute to Michael, search inside yourself.
What can you do today to facilitate a positive change in yourself? You can make the world a better place...

This is a tragic passing.Michael made us all smile. My heart is sadden.I'm trying to put things in perspective now.
We all have to die some time. Michael Jackson's death reminds me that none of us are bigger than life.None of us. No one lives forever. Even Methuselah eventually past on.There are far more people dead than there are alive, and that number is growing. This post is as much about death as it is about Michael Jackson.Life is wonderful, but death is undefeated. The peace for all of us is to know that, we rest in peace with death.THE STRUGGLE IS OVER. The Bible says that, "We should cry at birth and rejoice with death.Having said that, let us all celebrate the life of Michael Jackson, and rejoice in the happy memories that he brought into our lives. You made us all smile, at one time Michael. All of us used to run to the TV when you and your brothers were performing. You can rest now.
"Where There Is Love, I'll Be There". Hallelujah.
A close friend of mine's died in his sleep last night. His name was Michael too.
Farewell Michael, Ed and Farrah. All of you were wonderful. You will be sorely missed.

All the people hating on michael should go listen to some music that makes them happy or go check up on the revolution in Iran or something... Some of the responses here are astounding to me. It's very difficult to read them and know that they were typed and posted by human beings. I came to current to get away from this kind of mentality -- that kind of seems like a mistaken impression now.
I am not a huge Michael Jackson fan and unfortunately, a lot of his proclivities made me like him less. Now, however, the man is dead and whatever I may have felt about him as a person is no longer relevent.
Every life deserves respect.
RIP, Michael Jackson.

i hope in death, black man, u find the peace u sought in life. i am and will allways b a fan. i am saddened by ur passing and felt the need to express it on the net. people spent many years seeking things about u to make u seem like some kind of weirdo....but that seemed to me to b so far from the truth. it's funny to me how we all still love and have forgiven r kelly....but cannot find the same love and forgiveness for michael jackson. look closely people....r kelly is the weirdo! how lonely that 50 years must have been for you. all ur siblings have married and have children....and u had nothing. so u bought urself that happiness....and we critasized and persicuted u for doing what rich men do! even the rich peolpe around u changed faces. u werent what they wanted u to b....at least to them u werent. but u were to so many of us. u and bob marley will live on untill the end of mankind. ur energy has now returned to the universe....and im glad...i feel blessed to have lived in the same time line as you. thank you michael....your voice has and will carry me through pain and joy. heartbreak and love. i will teach my sons of you. show them your life as a lesson that you can achieve and have everything.....yet still have nothing. we love u michael. good bye.

Some of my earliest memories of Michael Jackson, also happen to be my earliest memories of life. I remember being like 4, begging my dad to put on taped Michael Jackson concerts and playing the Smooth Criminal arcade game.. Whenever I went to Disneyland, my first stop was always the 3D Captain Eo movie and I cried when I realized it'd been replaced. Michael Jackson was childhood and my heart breaks for it's lost. I'm only 17, much too young to have remembered the Jackson variety show, or thriller's first air on MTV. But Michael had always been in the background of my culture. You'd hear a song in a movie, you'd see some Timberlake dance moves and recognize them. Now, all of that familiarity is gone. I must admit that it's strange. It's scary, and very unreal. He's more recognizable than presidents. People from 3rd world countries that don't own a TV could probably recognize his tunes. He's so incomprehensibly HUGE. He always will be.He's always been there. And he will always stay there.

I am 47. I can't say that I "embraced" Fawcett, McMahon or Jackson. Thinking of them brings a certain nostalgic feeling. I was "discovering" girls right about the same time it seemed like every one of them on the planet wanted Farrah's hairstyle. Her television show at the time, Charlie's Angels, was among the worst ever made, I am afraid. But I admired the fact that she didn't just bank the money and coast afterwards. She did the work necessary to put in a couple of award-winning performances later in life -- good for her! Her choice in men seemed a little questionable, but people probably say that about my wife...
Despite having grown up seeing Ed McMahon or hearing his voice at least once a week for a good 25-30 years, I honestly have nothing really to say one way or the other about him. I am not aware that he had any kind of talent for anything. His "gift" was a fairly smooth baritone -- at least he didn't waste it. I felt badly that he had financial difficulties later in life. Doesn't even really matter whether they were his own fault. I just hate seeing people who are old and frail having to bear up under stresses that would be daunting for people half their age.
Jackson was a different order of cat altogether, of course. He was three years older than I, but back in the 70s and 80s he was marketed as being two years younger than his real age. I remember just being stunned when I was 10, 11, 12 years old that a kid my age could POSSIBLY have reached that level of success already. Knowing now that he was 13, 14, 15 at the time takes a LITTLE of the edge off -- but not much. Unlike so many pop stars today, his rise to fame was based MOSTLY on talent rather than MOSTLY on hype (see, e.g., Britney, Jonas Bros. et al.) Hype was part of it, of course, but hype machines were not nearly as sophisticated as they are now. For one thing, unless you were in a major metropolitan market, there were only two or three television channels to choose from. The metro areas had five or six, and we thought they were so LUCKY when we visited the big city (now I don't watch television at all because I can't find anything on 300 channels that doesn't make me slightly queasy or worse...).
Jackson's Dad was one of the most miserable SOBs to ever walk the planet. Michael was always clearly the most sensitive and artistic of the brothers anyway, so it makes sense that he would be least able to shake it off. David Spade did a great riff on the family once when he was talking about La Toya Jackson and saying, "Just how screwed up does one have to be to be known as the WEIRD Jackson?..." Probably had to be there to appreciate the joke, but I about wet myself...
Pederast? More likely than not under the old "where there's smoke there's fire" adage. There was certainly enough sickness to go around, however. I mean, what kind of parent would have sent their kid on a sleepover with MJ after the FIRST public allegation and settlement? And what was the deal with Lisa Marie Presley? Well, at least maybe McCartney will get the rest of his music back by purchasing it from the estate. Maybe he'll buy Scotland at that point or something.
I think Michael's "creative period" was pretty much over. I wonder if his life brought him any moments of joy anymore? I can't help feeling that for the most part the world was a dark and scary place for him after his Dad pretty much turned off the lights permanently when he was a kid. He overcame that darkness long enough to become a worldwide sensation...but in the end perhaps all that was left was the darkness...

I consider it a privilege to be older, but not yet oldest, because that's still a work in progress. Old comes from a German word meaning "high". If you take care of yourself and preserve yourself well, you not only survive longer, you expand your horizons and extend your life. Even at 60 now when I someday die I know I'll be known as the world's oldest living man because as the poet said: "Those who love the deepest are forever young. They will eventualy die of old age, but they still die forever young" And though I may never live long enough to experience science find a way to rebuild the genetic telemeres of humans, I know I'll die with a smile on my face. Think positively. It will give you an inner Peace. And will help you overcome being depressed at how negative the world seems. Like him or not Michael Jackson revolutionized the recording and entertainment industry.A lot of you aren't old enough to remember the energy and innocence of the young Michael Jackson.Michael Jackson brought joy to the world in his early performances.
Michael Jackson was physically and emotionally abused by his father,Joe Jackson. He watched the same father beat his siblings, beat his mother, and sleep with his sister Latoya. Michael probably did have his demons, but who in that world doesn't.Mick Jagger, Pete Townsend, Rod Stewart, Elton John, Jerry Lee Lewis all fought the same demons. They all, at one time, were accuse of sleeping with young under age boys or girls.
Michael Jackson made MTV. THERE'S NOT ONE OF US THAT DIDN'T ENJOY WATCHING MICHAEL PERFORM.
Michael Jackson may have brought shame to his name later on in life, but he brought joy to the world when a lot of us were looking for a reason to smile.Viet Nam, Watergate, the LA riots and so much other mess had consumed the hope of America when the Jackson 5 took us by storm with Little Michael out front dancing to "I Want You Back"Michael, you tickled us all and made us all smile.Your name is written in 'The Book Of Life'. Man you were great. There will never be another one like you. Please show this man the respect that he earned and deserved. Who amongst us is truly qualified to judge anybody else ?

I love the work Micheal Jackson, but frankly I think it is better that he has died. I say this based on the fact he was not producing anymore great material while his life was hounded by nuts and rumors. I'm not implying that an entertainer should die once they are done entertaining the rest of us, or that he did not do some of the craziness we all heard, but his legend can be appreciated more so now that he is dead without the continuing of any more activity. Of course there will be those seeking to profit of his life with stories.. I wonder how long it will be before the movie comes out.. I look forward to seeing what his children do with their lives.

was never jealous of his fortune, I'm relieved that he may finaly be at Peace in the great beyond, because he never seemed to achieve that in this mortal world. As a child he had an angelic voice. Only yesterday I saw a public service advert in which they used his song "I'll be there" to reinforce volunteer efforts to rebuild America. A very noble sentiment. I have no doubt this is the beautiful legacy Michael left all of us with. A good point for all of us to remember is that the desire some have to be a public figure in whatever trade they're engaged in ...And all their motives to earn fame & fortune,,,may end up destroying them. No matter how tempting, It's still a risk. Getting what you want is acquisition. Wanting what you've got is happiness in the sense of contentment. You can never be at Peace until you're content with who you are, and you can never be at peace with what you have until you're content with that too. No amount of money can ever buy you LOVE Ultimately to love, and the freedom to love, be connected, grow old and die are the essential things that should matter because those are the things that make us all well adjusted adults in the natural order of things., And those experiences and their memory are all you can take with you when you leave this earth. In the words of Paul McCartney "And in the end, the love you make is equal to the love you take". I hope everyone in his family is motivated to add to his eulogy, since I'm certain they all know the private Michael Jackson and all the beautiful things about him secreted from us that they've experienced and shared in his/their lives. To coda with a hippie song from the early 70s,

This was the song I listened to and sang when I was 12 in the schoolyard with my friends. We loved Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, and I grew up with him. He was a GREAT entertainer and this is how I will remember him. I suspect for all his fortune he was a torn man and even resentful that he was actually deprived of a normal childhood, and I am sad at his death because he did give much joy to the world apart from all of the personal trials he had. Rest In Peace Michael Jackson. Thank you for making my childhood and my life fuller with your music.

MJ was an artist in the perfect preinternet era of tapes and CDs, if you wanted to hear him you bought the album Or knew someone who owned it. this thrust his album sales in addition to his talent, These days no one will ever be able to touch his level of success. Internet will make sure of that.

CNN is currently reporting that MJ has died. Somewhat hinting at Mj having issues with perscription drugs. That is all speculation right now. But I guess the autopsy will tell. Apparently the family is all at The hospital in a private room.

That is funny, in my conversation with my sister last night, we both agreed we all killed MJ....and it's kinda of true. Media and fame consumed his soul first and body last.

God, that's could be so true. I wouldn't doubt that at all.
This might be a good case to prompt psychological screenings of celebrities and whatnot to judge the mental pressure on them for whatever reason... thereby creating a scientific case against paparazzi and celebrity worship?
Whee!

Say what you want about his personal life, but he broke more ground, and took Rock and Roll and Pop to places it had never been, he had raw talent and guts to put it all out front come hell or high water he did what he wanted and did it good. It will be a long time before we see a trailblazer like him again, he broke the black and white barrier and thrilled millions of people for many years. God let him rest in peace. You did Rock and Roll and Pop like no one else ever will.
