Is it back on??, Oasis play Wembley this week and apparently Blur did some gigs recently. Here's a cunningly brilliant article from Simon Swatman.

    • You'd have to be mad to think Oasis stand up against Blur.

Damon Albarn has been one of the most creative British musical contributors of the past 30 years. Even if you don't include the albums of Gorillaz, TGTB&TQ and MJTTW, he's written operas, produced bands, owns a record label. Blurs catalogue of work evolved, whilst remaining imaginative and consistently good.

Oasis is just a next generation of Status Quo; an initial peak followed by repetitive dross and milking fans with the same old tours.

Agreed - Oasis have made careers off one idea, which wasn't even theirs in the first place. Albarn and Coxon have both gone on to new interesting projects.

To follow up on this I watched Oasis the other day and weirdly they were much better than Blur were at Glastonbury. The songs were great and Noel and Liams in-between banter was a lot more fun than Damon's wanky uncle at a disco routine .

    • Blur were better. Modern Life is Rubbish is a fantastic album. Definitely Maybe is rather good too. I never liked Country House much, nor Roll with it.
Blur were better though. The only thing Oasis can beat them on is that Liam Gallagher is quotable gold!
