Kevin Cogill, who leaked the highly anticipated Guns N' Roses album, Chinese Democracy, has been sentenced to a year's probation, 2 months of home confinement, must subject his computers to government scrutiny, and record a series of public service announcements for the Recording Industry Association of America.
Cogill, who pleaded guilty to the charges, said he did not intend to hurt the band but to help promote the new album. This helped him in court since he had no profit motives. If there were profit motives Cogill could have faced a $100,000 fine and five years probation. Yeesh...
