"Them Crooked Vulchers" (John Paul Jones, Dave Grohl, Josh Homme) Put On Astonishing Performance

I was one of the very, very lucky 1,000 souls who was able to see the world debut performance of supergroup "Them Crooked Vulchers," in Chicago this past weekend. The band includes Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters, John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin, and Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age. It was a miracle that we got tickets, they sold out in 2 minutes. And it wasn't cheap. And we waited in line for 4 1/2 hours to see them play. But every dollar and minute was worth it once these 3 music wizards walked onto stage and the crowd exploding in applause. I knew I was witnessing music history.
None of their album had been leaked onto the internet so no one in the crowd knew what to expect. The crowd whispered while waiting, "Are they going to play Zeppelin covers?" and "Will Grohl be on drums?" Everyone was clueless. But we knew it would be great either way.
And it was. The group put on an astonishing 80 minute performance of their entire album that was so hard and rocking, most of the time I stood there in awe. Dave Grohl was in his zone. He is such an incredible performer to watch. John Paul Jones seemed to revert back to his days with Zeppelin, pulling out bass instruments I never even knew existed. And Homme was busy on lead guitar and vocals, seducing the audience. Think loud, heavy, and bringing back a sound I thought rock n' roll had lost for some time. It was truly a night to remember and one to go down in the books. Definitely look out for their album coming out sometime later this year.

I'm sitting here typing this with my wrist band still on, and I'm thinking of keeping it on for a few more days...
