Muse album 'The Resistance' streaming free online before release

Muse's fifth, apocalyptic album is streaming online ahead of its release this week.

It's no massive depature from their previous stuff - massive guitars, Matt Bellamy singing about the end of the world, quiet, synthy moments smashing into fuzzy rock outs - but it lives up to the band's bombastic, stadium filler sound and should keep fans happy. As happy as hearing about the world imploding in on itself in a storm of conspiracy theories can make you, I suppose.

    • ok, well i like muse. i missed 'showbiz' but caught 'origin of symmetry' thought it was good. good enough to pick up their next cd when it came out. 'absolution'. this album made me lose my freakin mind. i can remember when it first came out putting it in my car driving home, the first couple tracks i was all 'yeah, these guys are getting much better' then the track 'stockholm syndrome' came on and i lost it. i had to pull my car over. one of the best songs i had heard in a very long time. i listened to the rest of the album on the side of the road, and the rest of the album was great. i was particularly impressed by the track 'endlessly' probably because it sounded like the music i was making at the time, or other bands i liked back then, like placebo.... anyway, absolution, in my top ten. and maybe its because of how truly phenomenal this album was that i just didnt care for the next album, 'black holes and revelations'. it just seemed a little phoned in. but like i said, after the last album i was anticipating the same experience, and i pretty much just got another 'origins of symmetry' not in similarities, but in perception. it was, good, but shoulder shrug good, yknow? which is ok, i guess, cos that means with this new album coming out, my hopes arent so unattainably high. so, we'll see.
