Current Music Presents: Embedded

mario_a
We're thrilled to announce Embedded -- a new show coming to Current TV on October 14th. Shana Naomi Krochmal, Current Music's online producer, has posted all of the details on the Current Music blog, so follow the link for the full scoop:

"The best part about my job as online producer for Current Music is that I sit right here in the heart of the department, and since January I’ve had a front-row seat to watch the development of a new show unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Embedded, premiering on Wednesday, October 14, is the kind of TV any music fan dreams of—and though you have no real reason to believe me, I swear I’m saying that first and foremost as that lucky music fan, not because I work here. (Rolling Stone also picked us as one of their 50 reasons to watch TV. In one of the weirdest but most awesome and accurate reviews I’ve ever read about anything, they said, “If Animal Planet had a show that captured musicians in their natural habitats, it would look like this refreshingly raw documentary series.”)"

    • Embedded needs to come to Detroit and embed with some of the best local hometown Detroit original Garage Rock bands going! My current local favorite is a band called Mound Road Engine (MRE) and they remain a relatively undiscovered, rare, original, unique and powerful Detroit garage rock style band. A super, original, femme fronted self proclaimed "Original Detroit Metal Band" that is beyond belief!

I've seen MRE dozens of times and each and every time they've given a 150% performance plus and that's no BS! The uniqueness and power of the band comes not only from the fact that it's fronted by a female but from the energy and power that Cole aka Nicole G. delivers to the stage belting out a top of her lungs performance each and every time.

And not to downplay the huge experience of the other members of the band all of which are awesome on their own instruments. James on Drums, Andy on Bass and Dan all hooked up with lead guitar and tweaked stomp boxes!

The band is HOT, although MRE may not be for everybody. Cole's vocals can be harsh perhaps even punk at times and the sound of the band is difficult to compare to any band I've ever heard - I guess that's a testament to their originality and their awesomeness!

I'm probably their biggest fan and I'm not here shilling for the band. I'd just like to see them be discovered by the greater Current audience in a professionally filmed and recorded format (Embedded) that most viewers would have to agree is one of the newest, fresh, hot rock and roll bands out of Detroit that needs to be discovered!

    • I'm so excited! This a real opportunity for all artists to promote and get exposure, I'm currently working on a doc and a few pods as a Atlanta correspondent. This is really positive I can see this being very progressive. Appreciate it once again Current.

    • This show seems like it could be pretty cool. I will be sure to give it a chance and send all feedback Current's way. I have my fingers crossed to see some exposure for Okkervil River (or, gods willing, Canasta - one of the best, least known bands today, if you're into melodic, intelligent, chamber pop)

    • I can only hope this is real music & not a lot of that crap I hear everywhere these days! There's WAY too much media attention on Hip-Hop & all the other nicknames people have for rap, so we really don't need any more of that stuff! Be nice if this could cover a bit of what's really out there in the music world! So little of what's around in the music world EVER gets media coverage,it would be great if Current would cover that stuff ! That's the music people NEED to hear about!!! Most media is real one sided with everything,so I think Current needs to not only step out side the box a bit with this one,but shred the damn box!!!

Same thing I said, I'm tired of watching that music program on Current and it's constantly about the Hip-Hop industry. It's time to start giving other music exposure again. If you're going to do it, atleast stop hawking Mos, I'm tired on this political rap it's boring. Get Cudi on here or something he's different and he's not talking about cash, cars, and hoes.

    • I hope it covers more than fucking hip-hop. I'm tired of theses cheesy ass Hip-Hop hipster types, who need to shut the hell up and and stop all lying that they're DJ's. Hip-hop is over saturated and spoon fed these days, even though I'm black.

Aw, come on, it's all about the auto-tune!!!!! I hope its a hour long show about how auto-tune has changed the music industry as a whole, and that if you want to sell out...(ooops, I mean , show your individuality and raw talent), auto-tune is the answer!!!!!

      (end sarcasm)
