Bassnectar Tears Up New York City's Fillmore

Friday the 13th was only unlucky this year for the crowd of ticketless, would-be concertgoers which gathered outside the Fillmore last night. The Bassnectar concert was filled to capacity and there were no tickets to be had on the street, so they huddled in the rain listening to the concert through the walls.

The San Francisco-based DJ totally delivered throughout his roughly 2 1/2 hour performance. The experience he creates between his music, the lights and the visuals playing on 3 screens across the length of the stage is a hybrid rave/concert/free-for-all and definitely worth a lengthy trip.

I had a chance to catch Bassnectar (AKA Lorin Ashton) for an interview before the show. Check it, and a few clips from recent live shows, above! Sorry, no filming in the Fillmore.
