That was too much show and not enough talent to give to those that enjoy his singing. He's entertaining---that's for sure.

I don't know. Apparently, Lambert's performance was shown before 10 p.m. Central time, which is against FCC rules. Period.

I don't think the American Music Awards is suitable programming for children. I would not let young children watch it. But that would be MY CALL as a parent whether to expose them to it or not. I certainly wouldn't blame the artist. And if my child happened to see such a thing and it upset them, or if it simply prompted them to want to know about sex (any kind of sex), I would explain it to them to the best of my ability. I don't think this sort of knowledge would be damaging.

I've gotta say this. Simulating being sucked off is outrageous. Who does he think he is that he can pull that kind of crap in front of our kids.

When singers began stepping up to the mike and screaming instead of carrying a tune and when the electric guitar was being played with the amp up so high an underlying melody line could not be ascertained I knew music was on the skids. Performing with professionalism, decency and talent have gone down the drain in the music field. As a seasoned performer I long for the time when stage performances by my peers were more than lewd circus acts.

I have worked 28 years in the Professional Music Industry.......The bottom line, ALL of these so called "Award Shows" are nothing but POLITICOL BULLSHIT for the most part!!! Talent stopped being a requirement somewhere in the mix!!!! The 'Powers that are' in the Music Industry have to market these no talent fucks somehow, Adam Lambert is a case in point!!! But they are also the one's who create these "monsters", Thank goodness there is still REAL music available on
satellite radio, Although these days i listen mostly to talk radio. - 2 years ago

What I think of as 'art' and what someone else thinks of as 'art' may be two different things, but they must be allowed to coexist.

If it's been done before than those people were as crude, tasteless, and talentless as he was. I venture too say that those who appreciated his "performance" are far out numbered by those who found his "act" to be a disgraceful display of vulgarity. Regardless of his sexual persuasion the decency and quality of a staged production are still valued as an important element of the show business genre. If he continues too draw an audience it is simply a sign that there are that number artistically deprived people.

I venture TO say that David Bowie is certainly talented, and if the majority of people were allowed to censor the rest of humanity we'd live on a very boring planet.

This is the sexiest thing I've seen in a long while. I think he's phenomenally talented and has a confident sense of self...traits that are sadly lacking to a lot of 'pop stars'. Though the performance was 'extreme' to some viewers, it's nothing that hasn't been done before (David Bowie...hello?), and it wasn't out of context at the AMAs with equally sexed-up performances by Rihanna and Lady Gaga. Nobody complains when women are open about their sexuality. So why shouldn't I get to see something equally satisfying?

This guy is a bland singer and a lousy performer. Also his act is disgusting. That he is allowed on stage is a sad commentary on America's sick taste in performing arts.

TV has changed drastically over the years. I remember when the nude scene in Titanic was a big deal. Now you have fetish driven performances on ABC. Where is entertainment going to be in ten years?

Well, from my understanding, it wasn't televised like that. It's his song, he should be able to do whatever he wanted to. If they didn't like, well then don't look.

Um...where's the controversy? This is pretty tame. I grew up with Madonna constantly making raunchier videos and every chick pop star following suit...this is nothin'.

um...mtv is a cable channel. abc...family channel.
i can guarantee you someone like madonna, who has the respect of the music and entertainment community (aka, payin dues for years) would not have tried that w/o knowing her audience.
lambert has not earned it. and he didn't push the line: he crossed. what he did was un-necessary, he could have made it provocative w/o it being nasty.

What did he do that was so outrageous? Also remember that people like Britney start out as Disney stars; they are marketed to kids and grow up to be sex symbols. I don't see much of a difference.

Pretty outrageous for family programming. Not too outrageous for his own concert, but, on this occasion, in my lil opinion, not cool. I'm just glad I don't have kids. My friends with kids were very uncomfortable with it... I can understand that...

Britney was never Disney --- no matter what ears she wore.
And MTV is much different (and got a close up) than ABC. That's just a duh.

As "Artists" weather it's visual arts, musical arts, performance arts, ect... What we try to do is to be a mirror of society's neo-realisim in this case this man's man is singing he has talent and will mature like we ALL do, but he's reflecting back society's obsession for life through the TV adn SEXualized-Nationhood that humans come to expect. It's Amercanized music at it's finest..talent, staying power, of course not, but it does present the NOW in society with all the natural slaves as Plato would say... Enjoy America.

abc shouldn't have let him perform like that: the felatio simulation, yanking the woman's head to his groin, & having another dancer grab his crotch - if he wants his concert shows to play out like that, that's his business, but abc should respect the fact that a lot of families are going to feel uncomfortable seeing such a vulgar performance on the ama's
