    • I do not want Buju Banton to go to jail. He is my fave reggae artist and I knownhe has songs that offends gay ppl but he didn't commit any of those actions toward them plus free speech he has a right to his own opinion. Boom bye bye is not the only song he made! He made really good songs ghat brought light to the poverty and crime in Jamaica with songs such as Untold Stories and Destiny. Not only has he song some inspirational songs but he also made some very hip dancehall tunes that keep the ppl moving. I hope that he does not go to jail and that he has a positive inisght towards homosexuals.

    • I am disappointed to see him go down like this. I am not saying that his song boom bye bye is right but he made the song as a teenager. Remmember that in Jamican culture it is not tollerated to be gay and as a youth he was going with the norm down there, just as how it is normal for kids to act out violence they see on tv. He has applogized for the song he made and has coverted to rastafarianism, the same religion that thwe great Bob Marley was a part of, and changed his lyrical content towards a peaceful coscious movement. Being half jamaican I know the culture and grew up with his music and have grown to know what he is about. I have heard almost all of his song both commercial and noncomercial and he has neverstated anything homophobic since. I am a DJ that spinins reggae music so I am a bit of an authority on it. I must say that it is a coincidence that after he got a grammy nomination and the LGBT assosiation protests him and gets arrested the day later. You guys that are out there that critise him havent looked at the entire storyu or even heard his music for you are not cultured enough to break your mold. You also have a lapse in your logical thought prosses. It has been close to twenty years since that song was made. Buju has met with gay colition leaders and does not wish to give up his culture to just so that a small group in american society can be happy. It is a fact of life that you cant please evey one. They never gave him a second chance even after in that if fair. And when you ask for forgiveness and its not granted its a slap in the face. Now he is not only still not respected by the "gays" but he has lost respect in his homeland after working so hard to satify every one. I hope that he gets off and that will shut every one up.

If gay's are not tolerated in Jamaica, what happens to them? Are they shipped to Cuba? Unless there is some unusual quality to Jamaican water there are just as many homosexuals there as in any other place in the World, probably some of them are your friends or family. Get used to it.

I am not saying it is right as state earlier so the part where you said just deal with is irrelevant to the conversation as I am not stating an opinion on that. I do not dougt that there are homosexuals on the island either. I am just pointing out the truth of Jamaican culture from a non biased perspective. If you are gay in Jamaica either you exit the country, hide it as best as you can or you die. This is not my opinion once more this is fact. I am half Jamaican so I look at this from both a Jamaican and American stand point. I am fair across the board. I just find this chain of event to be a coincidence.

"Vandal", I have been jerking you around, "just a little". I have lived in Nigeria for 4 years and your comments mirror the opinions of many Nigerian men. They are strong Christians with little compassion for homosexuals. To the point that they deny homosexuality exists in Nigeria. Of course it does , however their manliness does not allow for them to admit its existence. It is quite common among the women, I suspect as a result of abuse at very young ages, by men. You are correct in assuming that south Central LA would not be my first choice for a vacation. I might , however, choose Jamaica one day.

Because he has change since being a teenager in the early 90's and if you listen to his music and understood Rasta culture you would no that. He never killed any one. I respect his art since his change. Why do you think I am making excuses. Why are you crying over spilled milk. I have stated that make homophobic statement are wrong and he has too why cant you give it up now I am feeling the same pressure as him because people like you cant let go of things. Besides its not just him its almost the entire island of Jamaica so go fight all of them as well if your brave instead of singling him out. Stop attacking me wit fallacious argument and random statement when some one has something legitimate then challenge me,

    • Well I don't know who this guy is but I hope they throw the book at him. He may have the money to by his way out of some of the jail time but not all of it. Being as they caught him in Miami Fla. I hope he gets a cellmate twice his size and just as gay as Elton John.

you should go do some research too. you live in a box. you have not gotten past 1992 the year his infamous song was made. he has appologized since then. he necer made such a statement as you claimed he did in october and whatever source you got that from must be one sided and false.

No MoonLoon it is not. Tourist never get a good grasp of for they only want the beach club experience. If you wanted People to come to the US would South-Central Los Angeles or Overtown Miami be the places you would like them to see of would you want them to stay in Malibu and Miami Beach. I have been to all four of these places and with ease i can tell you I prefer the latter 2. What would you chose logically. Jamiacan culture is based around Judeao/Christian Faith and while not all are extremest and although things are bad down there they follow certain rules set forth by those religious text. There are approximately 4+ churches per square mile. And with all the badness down there it is still one of the wolds happiest nations.

    • The man is a pathetic, homophobic idiot. His song "Boom Bye Bye"glorifies violence against gays and lesbians and in October this year he said "This is a fight, and as I said in one of my songs 'there is no end to the war between me and faggot' and it's clear."

      Nice guy.
