Jason Isbell and his band, the 400 Unit, set up and soundcheck at Silverlake's Spaceland Lounge. Then Jason breaks out his pool cue and spends some down time concentrating on the corner pocket, his favorite way to escape from the pressure of playing 200-plus shows a year. "It's just sticks and balls and holes, that's it," he says. "I don't have to worry about anything."
