“As of yesterday, we’re gonna do it at Bonnaroo at the midnight slot, the first night,” Coyne says. “We do a Flaming Lips set then starting about 2:30 we do this ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ thing. In that sense, it’s perfect for that. It lets you play a little bit longer.”

And who announces exactly what they're going to be playing six months in advance? They should have just kept it a surprise.

Wayne Coyne is an egomaniac. Anyone who has seen The Flaming Lips live can attest to this. I've seen them multiple times at music festivals, and in between each song, he'll urge the audience to keep cheering, and to cheer louder. At Echo Project, he went so far as to say "Come on guys, we're The Flaming Lips! We're the reason you all came here!"

No my friend, you're an egomaniac. It's every bands purpose in a live performance to charge the audience up and make them go wild, so if they encourage you to cheer or show flamboyance by saying they are the reason you came, well what the f*ck they have the right. That's not egomania, that is musical enthusiasm and live adrenaline pumping through Coyne when he's on stage, pushing momentum from him to the crowd.

They need to stop playing that. Their cover of DSotM has been universally panned and for good reason, listen to it! Its AWFUL. Some reviewers have gone so far as to call it an "abomination." Its like when they reshot Psycho. Whats the point? Stop stealing someone elses legacy and actually make something yourself!

Yay! Lips and Roo! Wish I could go this year.. I went back in '07 when they were there, which was awesome. I'm almost Lips'd out, though, being from OK and seeing them so much.. but I never truly get tired of their shows. :D So awesome. And their Dark Side album is grrrreat.
