HEY CURRENT.COM!! Isn't Mocca singing to YOU?

thedirtman
Last year about this time I was bragging to Shana... I found a band that was both talented and unknown in America... the music was being used in TV commercials in various countries... Mocca was getting millions of media hits online, ahead of some well-known Rock and Roll Hall of Famers. Best of all they were accessible and curious about the world.

Shana told me what I needed to hear. It was time to get posting. In hindsight I can't believe it had not crossed my mind to post a story on my own. I had some work ahead of me.

Rolling Stone had never reviewed their music in America, but they gave them a top award in Indonesia. MTV did the same as Rolling Stone, issuing them an impressive award without mentioning them in America. NPR never gave them review, nor any other media in America. Mocca had never been to America. One day Fast Forward Record label owner, Marine, responded to my questions thanking for my interest in Mocca. "Yes, we are really interested to make some relations with you because until now, for me, its so hard to find someone or a person who is interested to Mocca in US."

Clearly, Mocca and I had some common interests from the start, so learning about the band came easy. The four members were united behind their interest in Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. This is jazz swing at it's finest. It was a sound not heard frequently in America now, but with this line-up it sounded brand new. Meeting the fan club through facebook was more like meeting a friends club - perhaps that's why they call themselves swingingfriends. Fans were even eager to help me with Bahasa Indonesia online.

After about dozen or so stories and a couple thousand clicks from viewers I can say a relationship has budded. Mocca links to Current.com on the homepage of its fansite. So, with pleasure I feel fortunate to bring to Current.com the new single from the Buffetlibre & Amnesty International PEACE project to be released on April 12th in a music video.
