We were there: Treasure Island Music Festival 2009
I asked Rod Naber, our very groovy director of online design, to tell me just what was so awesome about the Treasure Island Music Festival, held this past weekend in San Francisco.
Rod went on Sunday. This is what he sent me:
It is wrong, Rod. But you're very concise, and sometimes (only very occasionally), we like that around here. Here, have a very gorgeously shot video of the Flaming Lips with lousy sound, and here's one with slightly better audio.
Here's a pretty clear shot of the stage as Passion Pit performed "Sleepyhead." They'll be on Current Music Presents: Embedded on November 18.
Rod went on Sunday. This is what he sent me:
- I can’t believe they (literally) bused the whole festival to the island from SF. It was super well-run.
- I love Grizzly Bear but they should be playing in a church or something b/c they deserve better acoustics
- Acoustics don’t matter when you have lots of horns. Beirut was rad.
- It was so small!
- I missed the Flaming Lips which was probably a horrible mistake
A bulleted list about a music festival seems wrong.
