The lightweight plot focuses on Ren and his friends' efforts to have a prom complete with music and dancing. The story may sound laughable and implausible but be careful the laugh doesn't get caught in your throat. Footloose is actually based on events that took place in the small, rural farming community of Elmore City, Oklahoma.
