“LENNONYC,” a PBS American Masters production, is an interesting albeit one-sided film about the roughly nine years John Lennon spent in the Big Apple (1971-1980) after the break-up of the Beatles.
That the first biography in the media information packet is not of the filmmaker, but Yoko Ono, “multi-media artist and peace activist,” may provide an inkling of whose side the documentary documents. And that the media kit contains more photos of her than John only reinforces the point.
