Modern American Revolution: Activists plan to #occupywallstreet tomorrow

Pfailblog
Matt Gratz, Political Fail Blog-

American democracy is set to battle with American corpocracy as thousands of activists prepare to occupy Wall Street in NYC and the financial district in San Francisco tomorrow. The people are foreclosing on the banking cartels and are demanding an end to their rule. Activists from coast to coast vow to remain in the streets as long as it takes to remove big money influence from American government and to put the power back in the hands of the people.

If you are a dreamer who is waking up refreshed and ready to change the world, grab your tent and some clean underwear and head towards the sounds of revolution. Tomorrow begins the shift in consciousness we have all been waiting for. The robotic sleepers of the police force will be prepared to protect the illusion at the cost of the living, so be prepared.

OccupyWallst. org has put together an orientation guide for anyone planning on joining the protest. The guide offers legal advice as well as how to handle a police encounter during the occupation. It suggests that you do not bring a tent, as that is illegal. It also points out that it is against the law for more than two people to wear masks at the same time. I say forget the rules and stand your ground, just use common sense and do not harm anyone.

There will be volunteer legal observers from the National Lawyers Guild present though out the occupation, who will be recognizable by their green hats, at the ready to document and witness police actions against citizen protesters.

There is a toll free information phone line set up with volunteers ready to answer your questions and assist you with logistics. You may call anytime at (877) 881-3020.

A group called the NYC General Assembly has created a schedule for the New York FUN Exchange, an event within the event for artists and entertainers to exchange their talents and enjoy being human out in the streets.

The schedule includes a 3 day bike bloc, yoga in the streets, poetry readings, musical performances, bank/student loan statement shredding, face painting & flag making, an economic forum, a major pillow fight and many more amazingly simple activities that are sure to bring joy to every protester and to at least two or three cops who are already on the edge of disobeying their orders to become human again.

    • Having been in the "protest" business since November 15th, 1969 (my FIRST MAJOR protest), the BEST advice I can give is to BACKPEDDLE as you move AWAY from the pigs! They will not consider this an aggressive stance on your part. If you DO happen to turn and run, have your arms ABOVE your head and shoulders with palms showing that you are NOT holding any "projectiles" to toss at them!

Other than that...there's not a whole Helluva lot you can do if they pick YOU out of the crowd for arrest! If you feel their breath down your back....fall face down, spread-eagled with your hands visibly showing you possess NO weapons!

And DO NOT think that by talking to them you will gain their understanding.

You won't. They will consider ANY vocal outbursts as a threat in and of itself!

Calmness and quietness is your BEST ally!!!

      That is all I got....

      Except...good luck!

    • Since the traders don't work on Saturday....whatever. If the anarchists want to pee in the street let them. The "revolution" we need in this country is to put an end to the encroachment of the central government on our lives. We need to get the government out of our way so that we can prosper. Return to a limited government without the power it has usurped and the alliances this "revolution" is supposed to remedy will correct themselves.

The usurpation of government has come from the right, the limited government people. They are the ones, with all there money that have perverted the course of democracy. They have made the most profound changes in the educational system, dumbing down the nation. It started with TV, then newspapers, and movies. Knowledge is power, and most people do not even know how to surf the web properly to find the truth. The limited government people are also out to end net neutrality.

No, limited government is not the answer. They have you fooled as well. The answer is participation, learning the facts and how to discern truth from sound bites ans spin machines. "Limited" government is a code word for fascism. It is Orwellian. What they mean is really more government, just one that is controlled by corporations, rather than the people.

    • If you are going to make a statement of this magnitude, why of all days do you choose a Saturday? If you really want to make a difference, begin the take over of Wall Street on a Monday and see how long it can be kept shut down!

All this so called "revolution" is going to accomplish is create a great deal of revenue for the city of New York on fines and federal dollars for how many people they can stuff into jail cells.

Is this the type of statement you really want to make in the name of Progressives? How much of our credibility will be lost over the actions that unfold?

This is going to be a disaster and it is going to be laid at Obama's feet! When you are healing up and starting your jail stint, remember that you just handed the Conservatives victory!

    • it is overdue, this revolution. the webz might seem like a new thing but it is an extension or evolution of human communication. we used smoke, fire, birds, horses, broken twigs, even our bones have evolved as a result from this need to communicate ideas, fears and beliefs about what we experience. now there is a tool that we all can access which allows anyone with an opinion and the means to express said opinion to do just that. never in the history of humankind has this been available to such an extent. it must be protected from the influences of any group who wish to interfere with the ability to seek knowledge. we must protect our desire to gain information.

    • This is fantastic! I've waited so long for the left to finally get it together. The extremists on the right are ruining America, & it breaks my heart to see it. I hope that this & the protest next month will be the beginning of the end of this nightmare. Wisconsin was a start, but it wasn't enough. Our side has to fight even harder.

    • Well, as long as the anarchists don't come along in order to fuck around with the police then it will hopefully be peaceful.
