Music: 80's Changes in America, for the better and the worse!

A band not from America was making waves felt on both sides of the pond. The establishment felt threatened by these new breeds of music and musicians and censorship laws flourished but the greatest bands like The Clash didn't care... their message could not be stopped by some silly legislation.
"Clampdown" by The Clash US release in 1980 followed the UK release in 79

Overall we had economic prosperity? Not locally!
( http://kclibrary.lonestar.edu/decade80.html )All the union busting, lowest pay!
( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9zqDZkv9eA )I was in middle school at the time. That was the best time of my life!
MTV people where getting MTV more. Friends where saying "Hey check out this new band Motley Crue." Funny that some guys thought it was a chick band!
Also, Aldo Nova concert with the helicopter shooting lasers & Aldo Nova jumping off the helicopter landing on stage & catching a flying guitar from across the stage! And you are only 14! "I AM THE CHOSEN ONE!!!!!!!!"
( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHXqQOwLytg )Or the band Prophet, in 1985 it kept you alive after getting out of Middle school
to High school where nothing happened to the point they brought out the
school psychologist out to talk to the kids they all seemed depressed!
But soon some fun came back
as in a hit the target dunk tank & others I don't remember!
( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC5hpeJ2pGY )Also the custodians & Teachers where bad! In a funny way, in Middle school!
I don't know if I can say it here, but it has to do with a custodian and a plunger
in the TV room, and a teacher with kids.
I seen the whole thing go down! The Teacher opened the door & stood there in shock & this kid put his arm behind the door to open it up. The Teacher slammed the metal door shut on the kids arm. Snap!
The teacher told the kids to go to the office & the kids where running away from the teacher. From where I was I didin't see the custodian, nor did the kids.
But the next day we all heard about it! The school had a parade of pro cleaners in white suits going to clean the TV room out.
They made sure most the kids seen the guys in white suits!I can go on & on, even about the drunk custodian.
Or the teacher that went home after lunch & caught her hub with another man, went back to school, to class where I had the class. She kept it all inside until BOOM! Like a Atom Bomb the words coming out of her mouth, was like the wind blowing at you from a Nuke! She threw a book at a kid & said words we did not know or could look up. No Internet back then!
( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwlNPhn64TA )But the point of the 1980's is the lack of income. There where many kids in my school that ate only at school. And their parents ate every other day
so their kids ate once a day! What was bad!*Note: Learn from your experience! I can point to about anything today & have a reference from my past about it! It's all connected!

Land of Confusion I personally think is responsible for a lot of the Gen-Xers and the generation just after them to become politically aware. GREAT ADD! Thanks

This is so awesome. Please take a moment to read:
A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that 1,100 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.
Three minutes went by, and a middle aged man noticed there was musician playing. He slowed his pace, and stopped for a few seconds, and then hurried up to meet his schedule.
A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping, and continued to walk.
A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.
The one who paid the most attention was a 3 year old boy. His mother tagged him along, hurried, but the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally, the mother pushed hard, and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception, forced them to move on.
In the 45 minutes the musician played, only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money, but continued to walk their normal pace. He collected $32. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.
No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the most talented musicians in the world. He had just played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, on a violin worth $3.5 million dollars.
Two days before his playing in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.
This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste, and priorities of people. The outlines were: in a commonplace environment at an inappropriate hour: Do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize the talent in an unexpected context?
One of the possible conclusions from this experience could be:
If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music ever written, how many other things are we missing?
