Ice T: Guns are to Protect You from the Police

Ice-T: Well, I'll give up my gun when everybody does. Doesn't that make sense? If there were guns here, would you want to be the only person without one?
Krishnan Guru-Murthy, anchor, Channel 4 News: So do you carry guns routinely at home?
Ice-T: Yeah, it's legal in the United States. It's part of our Constitution. You know, the right to bear arms is because that's the last form of defense against tyranny. Not to hunt. It's to protect yourself from the police.
Anchor: And do you see any link between that and these sorts of incidents (Aurora)?
Ice-T: No. Nah. Not really really. You know what I'm saying, if somebody wants to kill people, you know, they don't need a gun to do it.
Anchor: It makes it easier though, doesn't it?
Ice-T: Not really. You can strap explosives on your body, they do that all the time.
On anti-gun laws: "That's not going to change anything. The United States is based on guns, you know."

Listen to that dumb ass if you wanna be shot. The truth is that he is an old rapper from the "I Gotta be hard" era. I was rushing home one day when they were filming an episode of Law and order and I walked into an area with yellow tape on the side walk---I had no Idea I was in their scene.
I saw him and others looking at me pissed---why didn't he just CAP me? That MOFO is as "SOFT" as they come.
The notion about using guns to defend ourselves comes from the founding fathers and they had foreign invasion in mind, not the cops.
"For a people who are free and who mean to remain so, a well-organized and armed militia is their best security. It is, therefore, incumbent on us at every meeting [of Congress] to revise the condition of the militia and to ask ourselves if it is prepared to repel a powerful enemy at every point of our territories exposed to invasion... Congress alone have power to produce a uniform state of preparation in this great organ of defense. The interests which they so deeply feel in their own and their country's security will present this as among the most important objects of their deliberation."

If a cop entered your home without a Warrant, seeking to warrantlessly
falsely Arrest you, abduct you, falsely Imprison you, Assault you, your
missapplied Historical facts, taken out of the modern context of those
reasons for which firearms were 2nd Amendment protected for, would
look like a pretty lame rationalization. He's a negro, Without his race

there would be no 13th or 14th Amendment to protect any of us. Nor
would there be the routine racial Discrimination from KKK cops all the

of Rodney King. I've been the victim of several 2nd degree Gang Assaults,
several 2nd degree and even 1st degree Murder Attempts by FBI agents
implementing their Hate crime, using crooked cops to promote their

experience is a lot closer to real life and it's ugly truth than an appeal to

unguarded moment secreted from others' realities. The important thing
is to be a live dumb ass, arbitrary value judgements nothwithstanding.

Ok so when a cop pulls a person over for speeding, blow the pig's head off. Hell he's probably has a sinister motive.
When a cop is standing near a train turnstile, blow his head clean off as he probably is lurking around to rape someone.
See what I did there? Slippery slopes are so ugly no?
My Thomas Jefferson quote is a FACT and I applied it to my point precisely.
I'll take your brief BIO at face value ( I'm glad you are still around to tell your tale) and will respectfully say that that, along with your other testament, is not the norm. The best way to end animosity in places where the police and the people don't trust each other is to have programs that foster trust between both groups.

"It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from its government"
~ Thomas Paine"A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government."
~ George WashingtonAnd of course, we must not forget Jefferson who you've selectively quoted to forward your agenda
"The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."
~ Thomas JeffersonBut lets not leave it at that, let us take a look at the thoughts of a multitude of the founders in the area of gun rights and their reasoning behind the 2nd.
"Who are the militia? are they not ourselves.... Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American.... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people."
~ Trench Coxe, Pennsylvania delegate to the Annapolis convention"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined"
~ Patrick Henry"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed, unlike the people of other countries, whose leaders are afraid to trust them with arms."
~ James Madison"While the people have property, arms in their hands, and only a spark of noble spirit, the most corrupt Congress must be mad to form any project of tyranny."
~Nicholas Collin"The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. A military force, at the command of Congress, can execute no laws, but such as the people perceive to be just and constitutional; for they will possess the power, and jealousy will instantly inspire the inclination, to resist the execution of a law which appears to them unjust and oppressive."
~ Noah Webster"... of the liberty of conscience in matters of religious faith, of speech and of the press; of the trail by jury of the vicinage in civil and criminal cases; of the benefit of the writ of habeas corpus; of the right to keep and bear arms.... If these rights are well defined, and secured against encroachment, it is impossible that government should ever degenerate into tyranny."
~James Monroe"Little more can reasonably be aimed at with respect to the people at large than to have them properly armed and equipped."

Your scenarios might make sensationalist TV/ movies but they
are not the norm either. Yeah I saw what you did. You carried
your points ad absurdum instead of facing facts. Noone can go
even 1 week blogging news articles from this website without
reading some extremeism, hysteria, mob demeanor or criminal
misconduct from armed police. Tasering, Assaulting with clubs,
recklessly shooting some innocent citizen they mistook as a
threat. The point is not whether we can have a kumbaya encounter
with cops to pretend they're worthy of public trust. The point is
maintaining one's life from their overpowering Offenses. Using
Jefferson's quotes on a militia intended to counter Indian tribal
atrocities, or French encroachement is irrelevant to modern times,
Then, most people lived in the country or small villages, smaller
cities. With the urbanization of America, and the rise of police
forces often armed with para military weapons, and often hostile
against minorities, the use of firearms to counter firearms and
maintain a balance of power against Official crimes is still what
the SCOTUS rules as Constitutional. The free mason founding
fathers created the Constitution to carry forward their basic
principles to counter ALL threats to Life, Liberty, pursuit of happiness.
They knew their principles wouldn't change. But that they'd still
have to be adapted to modern times to accomodate modern citizens. - 10 months ago

Cherry pick all you want. Of course the Founders didn't want you armed against cops, as there were no "cops" at the time. But they most certainly believed the populace should be armed as a final safeguard against governmental tyranny. I'm not saying whether that is a good idea or a bad one given the times and circumstances we live in today. Only that your assertion that the Founders only meant for the right to bare arms to be limited to the military is absurdly false.

he is talking about protection.... Kenneth Chamberlain Sr....was shot in white plains nyc in 2011 because he accidentally set off his life alert alarm. Instead of a firetruck or ambulance....cops showed up IN SWAT GEAR and demanded the "nigger" open up(their words). When theY kicked in the door they shot this unarmed elderly man dead then blamed it on him, AND PUT A STORY IN THE PAPER THAT HE WAS VIOLENT.... The only reason this is a story and not forgotten is that the monitoring company recorded what the police did and said.....and this is just one example on the internet. Now, if he had a gun in the instance Ice T is talking about....he may still be dead but there would also be some dead SOB POLICE TOO.
But hey if you think getting shot by corrupt police and not even throwing a "punch", is your way to go....vaya con dios , that is your admirable choice. Me I am going down like a damn outlaw if I were in this particular case..... I will go down on my feet not cowering to someone who wants to kill me or put me in a cage....F That shit.

I think you might have an inflated belief in the firearm training of police officers. For your average officer it's not that extensive. Officers generally have to qualify one or twice a year to show they at least remember the basics they were taught in academy. All of this training is easily accessible to a private citizen. A lot of the time the same people who train the police train private citizens.

Er...yes dangerous stuff is good...using this logic we should immediately start selling grenades in walmarts. Afterall, wouldn't want to be in a situation where someone else had one and you didn't right? Let's apply that same logic to biological and chemical weapons while we're at it. Heck why not tactical nukes and tanks for grandma's? A "lion" wouldn't be caught unprepared right?
All arming yourself with increasingly deadly weapons does is show the world and the people around you that you're afraid. It's not the act of a lion or a jackel, it's the act of a child...in the same way they might want their blankie or pacifier. Having a gun doesn't make you safer, it makes the chances of escalating a situation higher, and it's been statistically proven to increase your own chances of getting shot in America. It doesn't make the government fear the people either. Maybe it did back when the country was founded, but now days, guns are toys compared to the things our government has should it decide to turn its weapons towards the purpose of controlling it's people. A gun is no better against a sonic disrupter, chemical weapons, drones, and the like then a rubber sword. Thinking that it's more effective would only serve to get you killed should such a terrible situation as a civil war or martial law occur.

Fact is, one of those "safe", "regulated" countries you speak of was the scene of a mass shooting that makes this event look like a day in the park. Ever heard of a place called Norway and a man named Brevik?
One has to question who is in denial? Is it the ones who think some bullshit law will prevent such tragedies, or the ones who know the cops will never be around to protect them when they are needed?
I find it interesting how in the last two years nobody mentions Norway anymore when blathering about the 'safe' European countries when it had been a staple example for the nanny state crowd previously. Perhaps you should take a look at the larger picture.
