You Can't Do That On Television

Nickelodeon is considering a special for its young audience about sex and love following the news that 16-year-old 'Zoey 101' star Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant.

Somewhere, Linda Ellerbee is smiling. But is this the right move for the network that brought us 'Rugrats' and 'Double Dare?'

    • i think they should air the show. most parents are too embaressed to talk to their kids about sex. they would rather have someone else do it for them.

    • do you think that nick. would trash their reputation by airing a bad sex-ed special?

i think that Nick. is doing the right thing. Don't complain about children having sex, and pop stars getting preggers, if you don't plan on teaching your children the right way to go about it. Of course they owe it to themselves to do the right thing because they are one of the most influential childrens' networks of our time.
And its a proven fact that teaching children about sex earlier can delay the age in which they become sexually active, not make them do it earlier.
      Let Nick. do its job.

    • I think that we need to push through the awkward and uncomfortable topic because I'd rather sit, blushing and embarrassed, in front of my parents than be uninformed and do something I will regret. I mean, I have high morals so I don't plan on having sex anytime soon but teenagers these days don't practice safe sex and it's scary. There's nothing wrong with using condoms or contraceptives--I just wish people would explain that.

    • i don't know... i know most parents these days feel to awkward to talk to their kids about sex and in some cases the kids are better off getting their info from an outside source. but i don't know if nick should be broadcasting the special on tv unless they do an exceptional job informing parents when it will it'll be on so they can keep their kids from watching it if they don't approve. personally, i wouldn't let my little sister watch it unless i've seen it myself.

    • My mouth dropped when I heard the news that Brit's little sister was preggers. Seriously, that family must be cursed. They all need to tie their tubes or have Jolie or Madonna adopt. Or even Rosie! Just give us mercy!

    • Sure, why not. she's not the only 16 year old (and younger) having sex in america. most of them watch tv more than they talk to their parents. this is the perfect network to talk about teenage pregnancy and underage sex.

    • I can kinda see why they would want to do that, but I mean come on. Sex-ED on TV? On Nickelodeon? It is sad to see that parents letting TV teach their children about safe sex.

    • With one happy smiling Linda Ellerbee comes a downtrodden and disheveled Lynne Spears.

Mummy Spears has had to hold back her new 'Parenting Handbook' after the happy news her 16 year old daughter is expecting her first sprog.

Maybe she should pass some promo copies to her own daughter's first, nothing better than your Mum for advice...
