Well, first off it's not S&M Barbie, it's Black Canary Barbie. Perhaps if the media would use responsible headlines instead of warping everything out of proportion people wouldn't have a problem with it. But then, we are talking about the media.

Let's face it-SEX SELLS-or why would we all be clicking on some story about a doll, & a rather hot looking doll at that? Barbie couldn't buy the publicity the press is giving this non-news story. Sound familiar in today's over-the-top world of marketing? Well, while diligently assisting my fiancée who was shopping for just the right panties, we couldn’t believe the children’s section was actually touting thongs for what appeared to be for 5-year-old girls. So when does the responsibility (obviously lacking in some) of the parents enter into our world of abbreviated childhoods & instill age-appropriate values, since the parents are ultimately the ones forking over the money for these products, continuing to sustain the cycle, instead of breaking it by saying “No more” or monitoring it by saying “Not this time”?

Ya know, barbie is just reflecting a fact of life....little girls grow up, grow boobs, start thinking about boys, become curious about sex, and eventually throw on leather and beat the shit out of their significant others. Thats as predictable as the seasons. I say kudo's barbie, kudo's for not letting us forget that whips and nipple clamps just plain spell out a good time.

The original Barbie doll was based on a sex toy and then named after the creators daughter. I see nothing wrong with basing a version of Barbie on a comic book character, they've done the Barbie Disney princesses and countless other themed Barbie dolls, Moving to the comic genre is a logical progression, there's Barbie as Wonder Woman already.

I thought parents were role models, not dolls.

this one may be for collectors only but what about the other barbies that kids get. they're getting more and more provocative and it's really bothering me. my little sister has barbies and brats and i can't believe people buy these things for their children to play with. they look like miniature sex dolls!! they really do!!
and some of the detail put on these dolls are disturbing. on one type of Barbie you can actually see a rib poking out on her lower torso.

Well if they're going to react that way to comic book heroines like Black Canary, what would they do if they make Barbies from Black Widow, Scarlet Witch or Wasp?

Bratz has driven Barbie back into the questionable zone! (Remember when gay Ken came out, I mean really gay Ken with a cock ring necklace and fashions clearly taken from gay culture? I suggest that if superheroines are being made into Barbies and people assume they're sex workers because of how they're dressed, it's not Barbie's fault.

why not really make a S and M Barbie? People who grew up with her might get back into that trend. not only that but any woman truly can become a bondage queen, Barbie is just making that world known for kids at a younger age. (For ages 12 and up)

You go Barbie, this is one doll that has kept up with the times. Barbie has done it all and this version is not offensive just a little different than what consumers are used to seeing. You know people will buy it just because of the controversy. She is cuter than those funny looking Bratz dolls.
