Sexual harassment is necessary in Russia

Image
Scott_Bromley
At least that's what a judge ruled in Russia.

A Russian advertising executive who sued her boss for sexual harassment lost her case after a judge ruled that employers were obliged to make passes at female staff to ensure the survival of the human race.

According to the judge "if we had no sexual harassment we would have no children."

I'm a guy, I hear what guys say when they (T-H-E O-T-H-E-R S-E-X) isn't around. But guess what guys, those "Other types" are smart!!! It's True..They know how we think!! So smarten the H*ll up and get with a new program world!! Women are people......oops did i let out a secret??

    • Who knows what really happen. The Term Sexual Harassment is really strong, and it is applied even for those who REALLY like the Girl and just want a chance. Sexual harassment should be more oriented to an employee telling another "their ass is a bomb". And obviously if the lady/guy have said repeatedly that they don't want anything with them.

But now, if you look at someone, they are harassed.
      As an Excuse:
      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWJbSCCPeZk

Chris Rock SNL Monologue "...Sexual harassment! What is sexual harassment?! What's the difference between sexual harassment and just being an idiot? I mean, if my father didn't harass my mother, I wouldn't be here! I mean, I understand some sexual harassment.. if a man is your boss and says, "Hey, sleep with me, or you're fired." That's sexual harassment. And that's the only thing that's sexual harassment! Everything else falls under "Just trying to get laid." You can't put a man in jail for that! I don't care how hard he tries, that's all he was trying to do! Anita Hill started this whole thing. It's all about looks, you know? Because if Clarence Thomas looked like Denzel Washington, this would have never happened! She'd be all, "Oh, stop it, Clarence, you nasty! Your fine self!" So, what's sexual harassment, when an ugly man wants some? "Oh, he ugly! Call the police! Call the authority!"...

    • Admittedly I’m a little embarrassed at some of the comments on this thread. I’d love to join the bandwagon and proclaim how cool the Russians are but I have a problem. I love my mom and sister to death and I could never condone something that would jeopardize the respect they deserve.

This whole issue reminds me of “Holiday in Cambodia” by The Dead Kennedy’s. The song is about the absurdity of westerner’s embracing eastern totalitarianism because at a very basic level it seems “cool.”

      So you been to school
      For a year or two
And you know youve seen it all
      In daddys car
      Thinkin youll go far
Back east your type dont crawl

      Play ethnicky jazz
      To parade your snazz
      On your five grand stereo
      Braggin that you know
      How the niggers feel cold
And the slums got so much soul

Its time to taste what you most fear
Right guard will not help you here
      Brace yourself, my dear

      Its a holiday in cambodia
Its tough, kid, but its life
      Its a holiday in cambodia
Dont forget to pack a wife

      Youre a star-belly sneech
      You suck like a leach
You want everyone to act like you
      Kiss ass while you bitch
      So you can get rich
But your boss gets richer off you

      Well youll work harder
With a gun in your back
For a bowl of rice a day
      Slave for soldiers
      Till you starve
Then your head is skewered on a stake

Now you can go where people are one
Now you can go where they get things done
      What you need, my son.

      Is a holiday in cambodia
      Where people dress in black
      A holiday in cambodia
Where youll kiss ass or crack

Pol pot, pol pot, pol pot, pol pot, etc.

And its a holiday in cambodia
Where youll do what youre told
      A holiday in cambodia
Where the slums got so much soul

    • There's a difference between consensual sex and coerced sex/sexual "favors". Coerced sex involves using some sort of power as a threat (physical, professional, financial...). Apparently the Russian legal system has trouble distinguishing between the two.

    • "According to a recent survey, 100 per cent of female professionals said they had been subjected to sexual harassment by their bosses, 32 per cent said they had had intercourse with them at least once and another seven per cent claimed to have been raped.

Eighty per cent of those who participated in the survey said they did not believe it possible to win promotion without engaging in sexual relations with their male superiors. "

Let's combine this with another article at http://www.pwc.com/extweb/ncpressrelease.nsf/docid/5678F65061CF85A480257296003D7...

Apparently the sex isn't working that well. Maybe they should hold out for more top positions instead of just a rung or two up the ladder.

All sarcasm aside, that judge should be laughed out of court and de-frocked.

    • Russia is having a real population problem. This "ruling" stems from the fact that their economy is in severe dire straights because they are lacking a middle-aged population.

They have orgies to try and counter the problem and bring their population back up so they have a bigger tax base in the future, no shite.

Their population is fucked up because they have no respect for women and children.

The men don't want to be fathers and don't give a fuck about families, that's the reality in Russia.

The ruling stems from utter misogyny, not from a desperate attempt to save their population.

I guess by your standards, it's ok that a boss demands sexual favors from their workers on risk of being fired. Is that the good old American way?

I've seen this same misogynistic rhetoric trying to be used to blame the supposed fall of society. The pathetic aspect of this is, well the entire thing is pathetic; but anyways, that is to say, that anyone believes there is some type of correlation between equality and moral degradation. Show me the hard evidence of any type, even a causal correlation between equality and moral degradation. You can't and you know why; because there is none.
Oh, and confronting a women with an offer of sex is sexual harassment no matter how "gentlemenly" you may do it. Any type of acquiescence to such an offer could only be from an institutionalized belief in subordination, or the women is just plan loose. Who with any ethics to speak of wants to immediately sleep with someone they are actually interested in having a real relationship with? Not to say that in rare cases some individuals can make meaningful relationships out of casual interactions but it is not the norm; furthermore, such interactions are rife with emotional and physical risks.

    • Walks_in_Storms:

I think your definition of sexual harassment is way off the marker. Flirting with a woman, or even politely asking her if she'd like to have sex, is not sexual harassment. Any woman who sues a man for such a thing should justifiably be thrown out of court. However, if a male boss tells a female employee that she has to have sex with him to keep her job, that is sexual harassment and it should not be tolerated.

Moreover, blaming the woman for dressing provocatively is ridiculous. Are you trying to tell me that as soon as a woman puts on a low-cut top, any man who sees her completely loses all sense of decency and respect and can't be blamed for fondling her or attempting to blackmail her into having sex with him? If that's the case, then you're not doing much to improve the image and reputation of men as a whole, because apparently you're mindless beasts. Yes, sometimes women dress alluringly in order to attract a male partner. That partner is not always you, and if you can't accept that, that is not the woman's fault.

That said, I'll agree with you on the point that some women take it too far, and in doing so, they damage the social confidence that men used to have when approaching a woman. It's true that many men fear a potentially serious backlash when dealing with women, especially in the workplace. And yes, it would be nice if we still had gentlemen who would defend a lady's honor. But to take that to mean that harassment - real, intimidating and frightening harassment - is some false construct of modern-day feminism, is not only incorrect, but it's exactly the kind of disrespectful and insulting attitude toward women that gave rise to feminism in the first place.

The original concept of feminism was not one of "equality" in the sense that all women should be treated like men. It was a concept of equal respect and equal pay in the workplace, two things that the feminist movement has still not succeeded in giving us. Hence, why we still need sexual harassment lawsuits.

      - 100% said they have been sexually harassed by their bosses
      - 32% said they have had sex with their bosses at least once.
-7% claimed to have been raped by their bosses.
-80% believe it is impossible to get a promotion without exchanging sexual favors with male superiors.

Only two women have successfully won sexual harassment cases since the collapse of the soviet union. Women are regularly coerced into sexual favors at job interviews and in exchanged for high marks in universities. Women truly are second class citizens in Russia.

Russia is essentially a Western nation. As are essentially all other European countries.

They don't have a high rate of serial murderers either.

The U.S. is unique in that sense. We have a high rate of murder, rape and mental illness across the board.

Moral depravity does not make sociopaths, it's a psychologically abusive environment coupled with a strong acceptance of violence. Unless you're defining that as moral depravity, I don't see your point.

UK has more serial killers per 100,000 than the use does.

America has a population of 300 million. Given that many of course based on numbers alone it would have more than Europe.
