Excuses include "My dog doesn't match the sofa", "The dog looks evil and has different coloured eyes -- just like David Bowie" and "My black dog doesn't match the new white carpet. Can we swap him for a white dog?"
I really hope the people who wanted to swap for a white dog to match their carpet were refused. How anyone could get a dog just as a piece of furniture or fashion accessory is shocking.

How would animal owners like it if their pets abandoned them at a shelter and used the excuse - I am dropping them off because they don't match my cool personality or my owner has their head so far up their ass that I have to walk them.

That frustrates me so much! How can you treat your pet that way? The worst part is, most people like that never really learn their lesson. They'll get more pets when the mood strikes them and discard them when they get sick of it. Bah.

People have any manner of excuses to get rid of pets, and it is really sad.
One wonders if they'd treat their kids that way if it wasn't illegal.
My 2 dogs and 2 of my cats are from the pound. The third cat is feral, stays outside, and eats an enormous amount of food.
