Kan. mom jailed for contempt

WICHITA, Kan. — A homeschooling mother whose daughter was removed from their home following a mistaken truancy report was jailed for contempt Friday after refusing to say where the 14-year-old has been since fleeing state custody in October.
Bambi Baker-Hazen said she was invoking her right to protect her daughter, Ashton Baker, from what she called abuse in the state's child welfare system. The girl had spent 47 days in the Wichita Children's Home before running away Oct. 6.

Baker-Hazen told Sedgwick County Juvenile Court Judge Tim Henderson that when she tried to return Ashton to the home, the girl threatened to jump out of the car. She said Ashton had lost a lot of weight and had burns on her arms allegedly inflicted by other children at the home.

"She was hysterical, upset," Baker-Hazen testified. "She said she could not take it anymore."

Baker-Hazen said Ashton is safe, but she repeatedly refused the judge's admonitions to answer questions from deputy county prosecutor Ron Paschal about the teen's whereabouts.

    • If you read the article the mom was doing inpatient rehab and mental counseling when she was supposedly homeschooling the child.

      Further, the mom asked to be taken to jail. It would seem that this is not a clear cut case of judicial abuse, and that the mother and the kid have a history of deceit and mental illness.

      I am that mother Bambi Hazen and I was addressing personal issues during the summer this case was filed July 14th 2008 so yes just like all other schools public or private all have a summer vacation, yes after my child was kidnapped by these monsters It affected my emotional status as it would ANY mother.       Most definetely She does have grounds, although She may not yet be strong enough to go through this. If I were Her I would certainly consult an Attorney. The fact that the daughter had burns on the arms is certainly a reasonable cause to get Her out of there. Possibly to a Relative.CPS claims that in every case except the most extreme will they take the Child out of the Home.

      Unfortunately judges mediators and caseworkers have an assumed immunity. While people have been convicted of fraud in similar situations, not everyone has the financial resources to adequately fight the system. They are the law and they act as if they are above the law. There are many many cases of abuse in foster care that get swept under the rug to protect CPS. There is absolutely zero accountability when it comes to these state employees, their main job is to keep the federal funds coming in. Look up SS Title IV-D........

      You got it Reg! I was once one of those Smegs..Not CPS but Public Employee. I fucked with them every which way but loose and loved every minute of it. Management that is. I worked my Ass off to protect Employees as a Union Steward. They left Me with My Ass hangin out most of the time. But I never lost a Grievance and, I made Management Pay dearly for fucking with People, and I loved it!

These People are out of control on so many levels. From the People who brought You Janet Reno who stated on an interview with I believe 60 minutes. Apparently this interview does not exist anymore but the Government is watching Home Schoolers carefully. They have Profiled what they determine to be Cultists. And, Home Schooling is part of that. They have specifically stated that they would use CPS to remove the Children from the Home. This is a wake up call! I'm so proud of this Mom who has taken a stand against the Tyranny that is enfolding us. Unfortunately they will find the Child. Her removal from the Family is surely inevitable. To make Criminals out of Parents is Criminal. And they will use the Taxpayers Money to use the full extent of the Law against Her. F*** them! I'm sorry, I tried. This just upsets Me so badly. I don't have all the answers really for how We fight this. It extends out like a vine. Our Political Leaders are elected as the best of two evils. We can't depend on them to help, they are feeding at the trough the scraps they are thrown just like everyone up and down the line. Self Preservation is a strong motivator for why they become blind to an injustice such as this. It's the same as when the Nazis arrested and tried for War Crimes stated they were just doing their Job. They knew and kept silent out of fear for themselves as well as their Families. I have so little faith in the goodness of Humanity anymore. Talk is cheap. When it boils down to it Humans will do whatever is necessary to keep the Survival of their own intact. It's Human Nature.
