Customers inside the fast-food restaurant continued to order tacos and burritos as the couple sat Friday in an orange booth at Taco Bell and exchanged vows.
"It's appropriate," groom Paul Brooks said. "It's an offbeat relationship."
Employees displayed hot sauce packets labeled with the words "Will you marry me?" They decorated the restaurant with streamers and balloons.
The bride wore a $15 hot pink dress and the entire wedding cost about $200. Several dozen guests looked on as the couple's friend, Ryan Green of Normal, administered the vows while wearing a T-shirt. He was ordained online.
"This is the way to go — there's no stress," said the groom's mother, Kathy Brooks.
Caragh Brooks, 21, of Australia, met Paul Brooks, 30, on an Internet dating Web site. They already had the same last name.
The couple wrote back and forth and talked on the phone for nine months before Caragh Brooks moved to the United States.
"We have the same brain, just in two bodies," Paul Brooks said. "We think alike in virtually every manner. We have the same interests, viewpoints."
He proposed on New Year's Eve and, because they like to spend time at the local Taco Bell, they decided to wed there.
"I would never have expected in my life in working here there would be a wedding," restaurant manager Carl Hamlow said.

Why did they sit down at the orange table?
Do they worship the orange table?
Is this some sort of cult I should be worried about? - 3 years ago

People who spend thousands of dollars on a wedding are stupid.

If the story said the couple was from the south, everyone would be bashing them and calling them rednecks.

Wonder if it will last as long as the food does in your system...come on she's 21, sounds a little like she wanted a free ride to the states, though I don't know why with the economy the way it is these days. Look at the bright side, if she did, at least he didn't spend thousands of dollars for the wedding just to turn around and spend thousands more to divorce.

Good for them, who said you had to spend thousands on a wedding. Mine cost $100 for the food and had everything in the apartment. I rather use the money for a down deposit on a house then a big wedding with greasy food.

It's disgusting.
I understand you want a simple wedding, I am for it but don't do it in a taco bell fast food place, the food there is pure garbage. Why do you offer such an homage to this corporation? - 3 years ago

Why spend months of planning and waste thousands of dollars just to have to show your love? If you really love someone, you don't need to waste money to show it. They like Taco Bell, they love each other, what more do they need? I'm glad that there is people out there that will not reform to the stereotypes just because that's the way the majority do it. So what if it has trashy food? It tastes good to some, and they enjoy it. We're all going to die anyways, why not eat at a cheap fast food if the food tastes good?

Like I said I am for simple weddings, I certainly like the aspect of being original and non standard.
Money does not count a bit. What I disagreed on was the place that they chose, it is an evil and greedy corporation, serves food not safe for human consumption, the fact that tastes good is because of all the chemicals in it enhancing and modifying flavor. When it comes to dying, yes we all have to, my hope is to live the longest, with that food would be the shortest.
This is why in my opinion I would have homaged a different place even cheaper may be with different ethic behind it. - 3 years ago

Sounds great but let's see you convince my girlfriend to get married at a fast food place.
Why does romance have to be a pain in the ass?
