The sleepy, small town of Winner in South Dakota is now on the map (well it was probably there all along, but no one cared other than its 3000-odd inhabitants). What put it on the world stage after all these years is the fact that the winner of Wednesday night's 'Powerball' lottery bought their ticket there.
"How often does something like this happen - a winner in Winner?" asked South Dakota Lottery's Norm Lingle at a news conference. Er, Norm - you missed the whole point of a news conference - you're there to take questions, not make 'em! And anyway, you run the lottery so you should know exactly how often this happens. Tsk tsk.
The ticket owner has so far not claimed their prize - they'll have six months to do so before they say goodbye to their winnings.
Useless fact: If the winner split the winnings with all the inhabitants of Winner - they'd each get £46,000!
(Video is of Michael Winner, had he won he'd have been a Winner that won in Winner)
