The head of the security firm for the German soccer team said that players might need protection for away games due to safety fears at the hotel they'll stay for the South African World Cup.

Guenter Schnelle told a german sports magazine "The possibility for the players of moving outside of the hotel boundaries should be kept to a minimum... Otherwise there must be a full escort: armed security guards and bullet-proof vests for the players..."

They are also worried about security in Brazil for the 2014 World Cup.

    • All this going on yet people are still supporting the world cup, South Africa would have benefited much more from spending the money on it's people instead of building stadiums and throwing people out of houses onto the streets so that they can pave the way for car parks. But all will obviously be forgotten when the World cup's on and it will all just be about football, and the men playing it who earn more in a week that an entire city in South Africa can earn in a few years.
