ASOS Africa & Jessica Ogden’s New Ethical Collection

Jessica Ogden was born in Jamaica, and after some quick reading, I can also tell you that it appears she was born to design. Ogden calls antiquated, distressed fabrics her favorite, and is known for her impactful ability to create new garments from old ones. After studying fashion, she took to the recycling trend like a fish to water. She launched her own line in 1993, and is now partnering up with ASOS for their sustainable line, Jessica Ogden for ASOS.

Simultaneously, ASOS is releasing their third edition of ASOS Africa, a line of African-made, sustainably created, raw fabrics from Mombassa, which were produced exclusively for this collection.

The lines, available now, both supports SOKO, a group dedicated to finding a “sustainable and long-term solution” to the economic issues in Kenya. Not only does a great partnership with a huge company benefit SOKO, ASOS is also donating $9 from each purchase from the ASOS Africa line & Jessica Ogden x ASOS to SOKO…. and matching it, themselves, totaling $18 per purchase straight to SOKO so they can build a new workshop to help sustain their economy.

So…

* Fair trade.
* Gorgeous.
* Ethically produced.
* Well priced.
* Charitable donations for purchase.
* Even the workshop in Kenya are green & sustainable, so that’s like double word score for “Ethically produced,” for both ASOS and SOKO.

The Jessica Ogden x ASOS collection itself is also nothing to sneeze at, design-wise. Ogden dove into Parisian chic with tromp l’oeil separates and chick, classic, timeless cuts. Don’t get confused – it’s anything but boring. Black, red, and blue mingle with clean, crisp white and cool grey. They’ve got everything from rompers to trenches, shorts to bow-shouldered dresses.

The ASOS Africa collection features rich orange and blue, heavily saturated fabrics that look amazing on, and the texture on each piece is so lovely. I just want to touch the fabric!

I know Jessica Ogden has her hands in both collections, but ASOS is confusing me as to which pieces are from which collection!

Now, what do you say we soak up some of the visual gems in these collection. Here are our favorite pieces:
