I think I saw this Dr. Gordon guy on tv somewhere talking about this, and he actually showed the test subjects watching videos of people yawning. Watching the test subjects yawning, watching videos of people yawning, made me yawn uncontrollably for like 20 minutes, even after I switched the channel. I couldn't stop the yawn.

Wow, that's an interesting interview. And the theory behind the contagious yawn? According to the article, you are triggered to remember that you should yawn too so that your brain cools so you are more alert so the tiger in the bushes doesn't eat you. The moral of the story? Yawn a lot, and tigers will go hungry.
